Jalalabad is located at 30.62° N 74.25° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 176 metres (577 feet).

As of 2001 India census,[2] Jalalabad had a population of 27,946. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Jalalabad has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 67%. In Jalalabad, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Most of people there belongs to Schedule cast category.there is near about 60% population of rai sikhs.this caste is soon declared as SC by parliament.
