I think the noted that "Jake is Jewish, which probably means why his character is Jewish..." is irrelevant, because there are 8 or 9 others, at least, who are Jewish, whose characters aren't portrayed as being Jewish (or any other religion). "Toby" seems to be the only one who labeled himself as jewish (like when he said "I'm the only Jewish Monk!")...
