Jaka Singgih

Jaka Singgih (Jaka Aryadipa Singgih); (born 10th July 1958, Indonesia) is a businessman; he is the Managing Director of Bumi Laut Group [1], and a politician; being a Member of Parliament for the Indonesian Democratic Party – Struggle (PDI-P) of the Republic of Indonesia. He has served in both the MPR (People's Consultative Assembly), Indonesia's Upper House of Parliament and DPR (People's Representative Council), Indonesia's Lower House of Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia. Jaka Singgih is the eldest son of Arya Johan Singgih, a businessman, Chairman of the Bumi Laut Group [5] and Member of the Republic of Indonesia Armed Forces/ Military of Indonesia Veteran's Union (Pepabri). [6] [7] [8].

He was born at 1958 in Indonesia and lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. He was educated at various Independent Catholic and Christian public schools in Medan, Indonesia before continuing to attend the School of Maritime Studies of Plymouth University, British Institute of MGT London, University of Hull, [9] [10]; and after coming back to Indonesia working for several years, joining the Bumi Laut Group, he then attended the London Business School and then Harvard Business School with the Young Presidents' Organization.

He is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization; and has been a Chairman of the Young Presidents' Organization of the USA, in the Indonesia Chapter.

He sits as one of the Board of Governors of the Mercantile Athletic Club; a private member's club located in the World Trade Centre, Jakarta, Indonesia.[11]

He is the Head of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Foreign Affairs section [12] [13] and is active in the Indonesia-British Inter-Parliamentary Union British Group. [14]

He is a member and is active with the Asian Shipowners' Forum, having served as the Vice-Chairman on its 14th Asian Shipowers' Forum. [15] [16] [17]

He is a member of the American Bureau of Shipping, being a member of the exec committee. [18]

He is active with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentry Assembly. [19]
