Jaime Camil (born Jaime Federico Said Camil de Saldaña da Gama Mexico City, July 22, 1973) is a Mexican actor, singer and host.

The son of a Mexican businessman of Egyptian descent Jaime Camil Garza and a well-known Brazilian singer, Jaime Camil began as a radio commentator on Radioactivo 98.5. He later made his small-screen debut as a host in El show de Jaime Camil in 1995. He continued as a host in TV Azteca's Qué nochecita con Jaime Camil (1996) and Televisa's Operación Triunfo (2002). In 1999, he released his first album Para Estar Contigo, which took him to major cities in Mexico, South America, and the United States. After participating in Tributo a las Víctimas del 9/11 (2001), Jaime Camil released his second album, titled "Una Vez Más". Jaime Camil later decided to join in the telenovela industry, where he made his debut in Mi destino eres tú (2000).

He debuted in the film Delfines in 1997, but it wasn't until 2003 when film producers noticed his talent in acting. He starred in three different films in just a year; Puños rosas (2003), Zapata (2004) and 7 días (2005). In 2004, Jaime Camil starred in the telenovela Mujer de Madera, in which he played "Cesar Linares". In 2005, the play Los reyes del mambo premiered in the Broadway. For his intrepetation of "Tony" in 7 días (2005) Jaime was awarded the Diosa de Plata as Best Actor. Jaime Camil is the producer and spokesman of the Mexican ShortShorts Film Festival as of 2006 .[1]

The role that finally brought Jaime Camil to universal fame was his role in the romantic comedy telenovela La fea más bella (2006-2007). His intrepetation of "Don Fernando Mendiola" won him a nomination as Best Actor in the Premios TVyNovelas Awards. He then went on to film A propósito de Alexa in Ensenada, Baja California and París in May 2007. Jaime Camil was also the Spanish voice for "Barry" in the animated movie Bee Movie

He is most recently filming a new telenovela Las Tontas No Van al Cielo which is due to air on "El Canal de las Estrellas" the second week in February. Popular actress and ex Miss Universe Mexico, Jacqueline Bracamontes, will be his co-protagonist.

He became famous on his own and received no help from his powerful family. He was offered many times but he always turned them down. He helped himself.
