Jahn's is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor and restaurant with locations in the New York City area, famous for its huge Kitchen Sink Sundae.
The first location was at 138th Street and Alexander Avenue in the Bronx and opened in 1897 by John Jahn. By 1918, he took off for 5 years and let his children Elsie, Frank and Howard mind the store. Later, he opened three more restaurants: one for Elsie in Jamaica, one for Frank in Richmond Hill, and one for Howard in Flushing.
In addition to its huge Kitchen Sink Sundae, other popular ice cream treats included the Boilermaker, the Awful Awful, the Suicide Frappe', Screwball's Delight, the Joe Sent Me and the (#”&’$?/) Special.[1] Apparently, there were outposts, including in Florida. [2] The "Flaming Desire" came to the table with an alcohol soaked sugar cube on fire and five scoops of ice cream.
