Syed Jawaher Ali Jaffry better known as Jagdeep is an Indian film actor known for his comic roles.
Jagdeep started his film career as a child artist extra in films like B. R. Chopra's Afsana, then to a child artist in Ab Dilli Door Nahin, K A Abbas's Munna and AVM's Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke. Then came Bimal Roy's Do Bigha Zameen with which he started playing comic roles.
He was a regular with AVM, and then he even played the lead in five films, including Bhabhi with Nanda and Barkha. His comic role in Sholay is also well remembered and the character Soorma Bhopali along with his Bhopal accent made him get many requests for similar roles. His only production was also titled Soorma Bhopali.
Actor, Anchor and dancer Jaaved Jafri is his son.His other son is Naved Jaafri (both Naved and Jaaved host the popular show on Indian Television called "Boogie Woogie!)
