[edit] Company History

Originally founded by Suraj Kika and Richard Chamberlain in 1999, the system was first developed for the Department of Trade and Industry for the UK consultation portal for Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy. The Strategic Environmental Assessment was the UK's first fully online Government consultation process.[1]

The software developed for the Offshore-SEA then became Jadu Content Management Engine Version 1 — and was implemented for scientific organisations in the UK as a means to publish complex electronic documents generated in MS Word and PDF formats.

In 2001 the system was redeveloped in PHP and MySQL and a Version 2 was deployed for UK Government and Local Authorities. Based on the e-GIF standards, and using XForms, the system was deployed at the beginning of the first acceptance and adoption of Open Source platforms within Government. The Jadu system became the first CMS in the UK to support the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) controlled vocabulary or taxonomy.

[edit] Jadu CMS

Although Jadu Content Management itself is a proprietary system, its architecture is cross platform and runs in many operating environments such as Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS X. The company recently launched a .NET compliant version of the Jadu CMS supporting IIS, MS SQL and the .NET 2.0 framework using the Phalanger (compiler) which compiles PHP to CLR.

Jadu as a company successfully switched several UK Local Authorities from proprietary systems such as Windows, to the Debian Linux operating system.

Jadu CMS is a comprehensive suite of non technical web based content management application covering - Publishing, Search, Productivity and Workflow, HR, ePayments, Retail store management, eBilling and eForms. These applications are scalable and can be utilised by large and small organisations.

[edit] Jadu Rupa (Enterprise Search)

In 2005, Jadu joined Google Inc. as a GEP partner and successfully delivered over 20 Google Search Appliance systems into UK Government organisations.[2][3]

Jadu also developed a software authentication system and user interface for the Google Search Appliance, called Jadu Rupa for Google Search Appliance[4] which enables full integration with Active Directory and LDAP.

Accoding to the company website, Jadu CMS systems include a fully integrated Google Search Appliance.

[edit] Jadu Galaxies (CMS deployment system)

In 2006, Jadu developed the Jadu Galaxies content management system, which the company claims is the first system in the world to enable non-technical users to deploy enterprise web content management systems.[5]

[edit] Jadu XForms Professional (Forms deployment system)

Jadu XForms Professional provides a non-technical framework for complex form development, harnessing the power of Jadu's personalization and A-Z modules to provide 'out-of-the-box' integration with many CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems. Accessible and interactive forms allow users of varying degrees of skill and ability to enter and manage information easily.

Jadu also develops other web applications related to document management, search and publishing. The company is based in the UK.

[edit] Accolades

Jadu's designer Lee Pilmore was the designer responsible for Lichfield District Council[6] becoming the first UK Local Authority to win a Webby Award Official Honoree status.[7]

In 2007, Jadu launched Manchester City Council's website using the Jadu CMS, which won the BT Online Excellence award as the Best Local Government website in Britain.[8]
