Image copyright problem with Image:Capcomlogo.png
Thank you for uploading Image:Capcomlogo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 15:42, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Image source problem with Image:UO LB assasination.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:UO LB assasination.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:46, 19 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. KipSmithers T/C 18:46, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Excellent, thanks! You have done terrific work on it so far. Some of my comments are more "suggestions" but if you can fix the mechanical issues I would be satisfied. Maybe you can save some of the semantic suggestions for progress toward FA. --Bloodzombie 14:03, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Georgi Kinkladze
I've recently been expanding Kinkladze's article, but don't have much in the way of sources for his (disappointing) time at Ajax, and I figured you'd be the most likely person to know about Ajax sources. Do you know of any Dutch sources which could be of use? One thing I am trying to confirm is whether the transfer fee Ajax paid was a club record. Oldelpaso 15:13, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello
Hello I recently decided to register at Wikipedia and today I came across some very nasty edits by an unregistered user "213.107.24.133" such as renaming the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Abdul Hamid Dogar to "DOG-ar" and after I had changed it back to the gentlemans name, he edited it again to put it "DOG-ar (son of bitch)".
Quite pests, these unregistered users I must say, hope you can help restricting this person!

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Yahoo Beta.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Yahoo Beta.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:32, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Template:Allgame
A tag has been placed on Template:Allgame, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion G11.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~Matticus TC 11:32, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah - my mistake. Another editor replaced a useful template with spam, which I tagged for speedy deletion using TWINKLE without checking the history. I've reverted it now. ~Matticus TC 11:39, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Belgium on ITN
I see no need to reword the blurb, it's a good summary of what's going on. I'm not sure about linking state reform to Partition of Belgium though. The fuss is about Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde (BHV), with opponents of splitting BHV accusing supporters of separatism. I think linking state reform to BHV would be more appropriate. Re: Bot problem
Thaks for reporting the problem. Now the problem is stopped but still exist (not doing more delete edits at all). I'm working to find a solution, in fact the bot thinks that the page zh:路易斯·范加尔 doesn't exist. Don't warry, I'm trying to find a solution. Thanks again. --Alleborgo (talk) 23:20, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Problem solved. When working on a Chinese page, we need to always use the simplified title. In this case we have to work on zh:路易斯·范加尔 instead, and things works fine. The reason for this is that the bot uses Special:Export, and there only the 'original' (simplified) title is kept. Don't be afraid to report me any further problem. Hello, Jacoplane. I regret to not see any improvements on the Joi Ito article and am dismayed that User:Angela and User:Jimmy Wales themselves had to be disturbed in the middle of the night U.S. time this week, at least that is my impression. These are senior executives in organizations that are likely to be important. I myself am out of business since 1 November 2007. For more information, see www.textet.com (my business), and the jail of your choice--some people have so many fewer resources than I do, and so many have nothing. I really think that whatever happened to me could have happened to others. Sorry to have to spill beans again on someone's talk page (!). -Susanlesch (talk) 10:23, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

A request for your consideration regarding CAT:AOTR
Hello fellow Wikipedia administrators open to recall category member! |
---|
I am leaving you this message because recent events have given me concern. When Aaron Brenneman and I, and others, first developed this category well over a year ago, we visualized it as a simple idea. A low hassle, low bureaucracy process. We also visualized it as a process that people would come to trust, in fact as a way of increasing trust in those admins who chose to subscribe to the notion of recall. The very informal approach to who is qualified to recall, what happens during it, and the process in general were all part of that approach. But recent events have suggested that this low structure approach may not be entirely effective. More than one of the recent recalls we have seen have been marred by controversy around what was going to happen, and when. Worse, they were marred by some folk having the perception, rightly or wrongly, that the admin being recalled was trying to change the rules, avoid the process, or in other ways somehow go back on their word. This is bad. It's bad for you the admin, bad for the trust in the process, and bad for the community as a whole. I think a way to address this issue is to increase the predictability of the process in advance. I have tried to do that for myself. In my User:Lar/Accountability page, I have given pretty concrete definitions of the criteria for recall, and of the choices I can make, and of the process for the petition, and of the process for other choices I might make (the modified RfC or the RfAr). I think it would be very helpful if other admins who have voluntarily made themselves subject to recall went to similar detail. It is not necessary to adopt the exact same conditions, steps, criteria, etc. It's just helpful to have SOME. Those are mine, fashion yours as you see fit, I would not be so presumptuous as to say mine are right for you. In fact I urge you not to just adopt mine, as I do change them from time to time without notice, but instead develop your own. You are very welcome to start with mine if you so wish, though. But do something. If you have not already, I urge you to make your process more concrete, now, while there is no pressure and you can think clearly about what you want. Do it now rather than later, during a recall when folk may not react well to perceived changes in process or commitment. Further, I suggest that after you document your process, that you give a reference to it for the benefit of other admins who may want to see what others have done. List it in this table as a resource for the benefit of all. If you use someone else's by reference rather than copy, I suggest you might want to do as Cacharoth did, and give a link to a specific version. Do you have to do these things? Not at all. These are suggestions from me, and me alone, and are entirely up to you to embrace or ignore. I just think that doing this now, thinking now, documenting now, will save you trouble later, if you should for whatever reason happen to be recalled. I apologise if this message seems impersonal, but with over 130 members in the category, leaving a personal message for each of you might not have been feasible, and I feel this is important enough to violate social norms a bit. I hope that's OK. Thanks for your time and consideration, and best wishes. Larry Pieniazek NOTE: You are receiving this message because you are listed in the Wikipedia administrators open to recall category. This is a voluntary category, and you should not be in it if you do not want to be. If you did not list yourself, you may want to review the change records to determine who added you, and ask them why they added you. |
...My guinea pigs and the "A"s through "H"s having felt this message was OK to go forward with (or at least not complained bitterly to me about it :) ), today it's the turn of the "I"s, "J"s, and "K"s! I'm hoping that more of you chaps/chapettes will point to their own criteria instead of mine :)... it's flattering but a bit scary! :) Also, you may want to check back to the table periodically, someone later than you in the alphabet may have come up with a nifty new idea. ++Lar: t/c 20:22, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the support over at WP:VG. Wow, I hadn't realized just how much crazier WP has gotten in the past eight months. The fact that people defend a hangon tag that never existed and make demands of people that are just unreasonable continue to baffle me. Especially when I read comments such as "The speedy deletion process is perhaps a bit too fast paced," I do a double-take and remember that discussion afterwards is always an option, as it was in this case. Just because an admin made a deletion doesn't mean the page is GONE FOREVER! (gasp)

Unspecified source for Image:Submission_screenshot.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Submission_screenshot.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:51, 28 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 18:51, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

FA list for VG Portal
Hey, I've been looking at the Portal and am trying to brain storm ways to help keep it up-to-date. And I had a few questions regarding the Featured article list for the VG Portal; are there any special requirements for the list? I guess what I'm asking is should every current FA have an entry on that list? And if so, is there any order the articles should be organized? (Guyinblack25 talk 05:27, 6 April 2008 (UTC))
- At the time I made that list it included every featured article we had. Obviously there have been a lot of changes since then, so it's no longer up to date. Depending on how many articles there are the portal needs to be updated, see this edit. The order doesn't really matter since a random article is chosen when the portal is purged (that's all the "Show another featured article" link does). If you have any other question let me know. I'll try to see if I can find some time tonight to take a look at it myself. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2008-04-6 14:15
