A note

Well, I have decided to leave Wikipedia for the time being. I guess if you could update the GCOTW or get someone else to do it that would be appreciated. See my talk page for more info. Thunderbrand 17:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

commons:Image:Wii wiimote.jpg

What is the source of commons:Image:Wii wiimote.jpg? The author is listed as "AnalogMan", but no source is given to verify the license. A derivative of this image is going to be used on the main page in a few days, so it's probably best to get this figured out now... --- RockMFR 01:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

What I did was to ask on irc on Efnet on the channel #wii if someone could take a picture of their Wii to use on Wikipedia, since at the time there was no good image. AnalogMan was a user on the channel who took the image, but he couldn't figure out how to upload it correctly to Wikipedia, so I did it for him. He agreed with the GFDL license. The image you uploaded here: [1]: Do we know who made the movie? I want to contact these people and get a higher res image that also has no possible copyright problems. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 01:34, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

I would contact the VPRO, who originally broadcast the film. JACOPLANE • 2007-04-15 22:26

Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Thanks for your peer review of the article. Any work you could do on it would be very welcome - especially after Awadewit's excellent but somewhat daunting review. :) Metamagician3000 12:20, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Re:VG Barnstar

Thanks for that, I will keep working on these pages until I take all of them as high as they can be. It's always good knowing I am doing a good job so thanks again. - 21:53, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Wto_logo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Wto_logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Iamunknown 22:43, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Jacoplane, I do not at this time, but about five should be turning up according to sources. If one shows up, I'll be happy to forward it to you. Cheers, -- Fuzheado | Talk 02:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for letting me know about Thunderbrand. Don't really know the whole story here, but he's gotta do what he's gotta do. He was a great contributor. Personally, I just can't (and/or don't want) to commit as much time here for a variety of reasons, but I still do a little here and there. Anyway, hopefully he'll make a comeback if only in a more limited capacity like myself because he did do a lot of great work. You do as well. :) K1Bond007 06:08, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

LOL, taking all those articles to FA is certainly an ambitious task :) At the moment I haven't got so much time to work on articles, but I'll add these to my watchlist and hopefully in the near future I'll have some more time and can be more helpful. JACOPLANE • 2007-04-17 19:57

You helped choose Ludwig van Beethoven as this week's WP:ACID winner

Thank you for your support of the Article Improvement Drive.
This week Ludwig van Beethoven was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help.

Removal of sockpuppet votes

I have removed my sockpuppet votes so there is no need for a investigation, if you wish the sockpuppet accounts can be deleted but my main account is the name Xtreme racer. I am very sorry for this incident, as I wasn't clear there was a policy for sockpuppets or what sockpuppets were, now I understand what they are and I promise you it will never happen again. Assistance needed - Re: Previously Failed RfA

Dear Jacoplane,

I would like to ask for your assistance. About 14 months ago, I self nominated for an RfA, which I ultimately withdrew (see here). During that RfA, you lodged an oppose vote, and I have taken a lot of the comments from that failed RfA on board since then. I am now up to an average of near on 875 to 900 edits per year, having only recently got back to the net from health issues (Throat cancer), and I am once again considering attempting a request for adminship. I am writing to all those editors who opposed my original self-nomination to ask them to see if they would be kind enough to review my recent work, and to see whether they consider that I have taken those points from my old RfA on board enough to warrant another attempt.

I am enjoying getting back into the swing of working on Wikipedia again, and looking forward to enjoying many more years of work. I am now using Twinkle and VandalFighter for my reversion work on RCP and CVU, and looking to the future.

Thank you for your time, and for your comments.

Your picture, Neonatal Jacoplane, was featured on DYK!

Updated DYK query On May 6, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Neonatal nursing in the United States, accompanied by a photograph of you, Jacoplane. You look quite cute on MainPage. If you know of another cute baby picture of yourself used in a recently created article, please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

If you weren't born as a premature baby in the U.S., please report this to WP:ERRORS and suggest an alternate photo. Thanks. :-) -- PFHLai 07:38, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

hi. he hasn't reported to post yet. i didn't want the info included, since in a few weeks/months it looks stale, and i try to build articles as timeless as possible, and update them when there is something new to add, not something old to take out. thanks for your post, though. I don't have his bio, and don't know him, but the state dept is going to put one up shortly (click on the link i provided to his state dept bio). cheers,Journalist1983 16:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

HP Labs

You merged HP Labs last year. Just a heads up that I've recreated the article. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2007-05-15 18:41

Good job! What was there before was barely a stub, but you created a real article out of it. Owen× 00:57, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I noticed something

I noticed that you uploaded a new image of Rage Racer downloaded from Amazon.com. I was wondering though if you wished to change the picture to a version I have which I created from a scan of the cover since I own the game. If you think this is a good idea please leave me a message on my talk page but otherwise I will leave the picture alone. Xtreme racer 03:04, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

If you have a better cover then by all means feel free to replace the image I uploaded. JACOPLANE • 2007-05-17 17:29

Fair use rationale for Image:Flagship logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Flagship logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 21:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Flagship logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Flagship logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 21:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

"Unprotected StarCraft II: no vandalism since june 06"

Sorry, but I think you must have misread something. The page was just locked yesterday, with the annoucement of the game, because the page was being vandalized every five seconds, and it was impossible to keep up with it. Though that has probably died down somewhat, it's not correct that it hasn't been vandalized since June 06. --—JeremyBanks Talk 19:34, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

I've reprotected. Are you looking at the right article? It was being vandalized 5 times a second by a 4chan raid. SWATJester Denny Crane. 19:48, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I think I might have figured it out. When it was protected, it was named StarCraft 2, not StarCraft II. Perhaps the protection records are not transfered over with the rest of the data, because I am certain that it was protected yesterday. --—JeremyBanks Talk 19:54, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

No worries Jacoplane. I'm not sure who exactly moved Starcraft 2 to Starcraft II, instead of redirecting, but yeah it messed up the protection record. SWATJester Denny Crane. 20:10, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Image:Ortoli Prodi Barroso Delors.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ortoli Prodi Barroso Delors.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:16, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading several images of prime ministers of the Netherlands.
