I'm am sorry that you feel this way. You may make commentary about the article on the discussion page (Talk:Jack Thompson). One of our key principles for articles is to cite sources. If information in the article about you is unsourced and untrue, by all means it should be removed or corrected. We aren't out to besmirch your name or libel you. We are trying to write a neutral encyclopedia. It is because of this that we discourage people from editing their own articles directly in any major way to avoid self-promotion. We also don't feel that it is appropriate for someone with personal feelings about a person to add biased content against an individual. So far, your edits have shown you to be biased against atheists and people who play video games or spend significant time on the web. We have a policy of discounting anything that occurs outside of the community, i.e. off-site, when dealing with internal issues on Wikipedia. Based solely on your edits, you are prejudiced against Wikipedia, Wikipedians and atheists. You also appear to not be interested in contributing to the encyclopedia. I understand that you are pissed off, but please be advised that making legal threats of any kind on Wikipedia is grounds for a lifetime ban on your editing capability. —WAvegetarian•CONTRIBUTIONSTALK• EMAIL•22:27, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I can only echo what the above user has said. If you feel that the Jack Thompson article is biased against you then please write about how it is biased and what changes you would like to see made at Talk:Jack Thompson. However annoyed you are with the article as it stands, insulting the people who wrote it is only likely to make them more determined that it should not be changed. Please see Wikipedia:No legal threats. There are avenues to pursue if you feel that there is incorrect information about you on Wikipedia. Our policies and processes can be difficult to find and understand, so if you wish to make a good-faith effort at resolving this please don't hesitate to continue the dialogue. Even though I might disagree with you, I have no intention of pushing my point of view here. We have several policies such as Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research that should prevent libel from happening here. Hopefully this can be resolved amicably. Is it possible to confirm that User:Jack_Thompson is the same user as User:Jackthompson? I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of these users is not actually Jack Thompson; his style seems easy to mimic. It would be a shame if this well-known person is not allowed to claim his own name because an imposter got here first. --Maxamegalon2000 06:20, 22 February 2006 (UTC) I would say no, since the Jack Thompson account has never been used since Sept 10, 2005, and I am not sure if the GTA/hot coffee stuff was going on back then. The reason why I blocked this account is that this guy is trying to edit as Jack Thompson, the lawyer, by claiming he is him, and the userpage itself is saying that he is an attorney. He kept on saying that information at "his article" is wrong and was written by "video game critens." At AN/I, there has been noted other instances people try to pose as celebs, but I am not sure how those turned out. While Jack Thompson is a common name, the issuance for the block is that this "Jack Thompson" tried to mimic the one involved in the GTA/video game stuff. If it was the real Jack Thompson, then it would have been noted somewhere, like 60 Minutes or Random News Program. Jack Thompson is undoubtedly a very common name. It could easily be claimed in good faith by someone who had the same name as this guy. --Malthusian (talk) 10:05, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
This one seemed legit to me; as I told Zscout370 on WP:AN/I, unless he has proof this is an imposter he shouldn't automatically assume it is. Doesn't Wikipedia keep ip addressess on registered users? Couldn't an admin do a WHOIS query on it and check. While a Whois can't prove that this is th Jack Thompson it could certainly weed out an imposter if the ip is in Hungary or something. I have examined the contributions, they do not appear to be by the same person. User:Jack Thompson seems to have a grasp of MediaWiki syntax, while User:Jackthompson seems to be unfamiliar with it. Jack is a common first name, and Thompson is a common last name, so that is why I looked this one up before I issued the block. I agree, this user should have his ban lifted. The other user Jack_Thompson just vandalizes pages whereas this one seems to actually want to do something, as crazy as that something may be. Also, if he is the real Jack then he will do enough to get himself banned in a day or so, so it won't be that big of a problem. Konman72 13:12, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

hello Jack, if i may call you that. sorry to have to contact you through wikipedia, but seeing as i don't know you email address, i figure you may want to receive messages through the wikipedia seeing as your email will be full of hate mail. i apologize for any and all death or otherwise harmful threats my gamer brethren have said to you. but please, don't let the words of the ignoramouses settle your view on us though, i wish to pay my respects. i see your argument on how games can affect teens and children, but you must think, very few teens have demonstrated malicious activity due to playing a game, and many of the teens that do already have a history of bad behaviour. should games stop being sold to teens, even though the consequences are so few? while 10 teens kill 5 people each, 1000's who see the games as stress relievers and prevent many already troubled teens from taking out their troubles on real people, by taking them out on fictional people. yes this is escapism, but is it not better a fictional person dies then a real one, right? i hope you reply. Removed the ghastly fixed-size box which was blotting the page by the signature. Don't know WHAT was going on there. It might also be salient to warn Mr Prah that Mr Thompson doesn't respond kindly to gamers even when they display no emotion over admitting it whatsoever, as evidenced by the Flowers For Jack incident.
