Jacques Casterède

Jacques Casterède is a classical composer.

Born in Paris in 1926, he gained his baccaleureat in elementary mathematics before studying at the Paris Conservatoire where he went on to win prizes in piano, chamber music, harmony composition (study with Tony Aubin), analysis and aesthetics in music (study with Olivier Messiaen). In 1953 he won the Grand Prix de Rome and spent four years at the Villa Medici before accepting a post at the Paris Conservatoire, where he taught musicianship to singers, musical analysis and composition.
