Jacobs Well (or, as shown on some maps and signposts Jacobswell) is a village in the county of Surrey, England. The village is located on the northern outskirts of Guildford, in the parish of Worplesdon, the village which lies to the west. Other nearby settlements include Old Woking to the north-east, and Burpham to the south-east; while the Slyfield Industrial Estate and Surrey County Council waste transfer station is to the south.
Between Jacobs Well and Burpham lie the River Wey, Burpham Court Farm Park (a 'rare breeds' centre, open to the public), the River Wey Navigation, and the A3, in that order.
The village has a scout hut, a village hall, some shops and houses.
[edit] Transport links
The village is on two significant through roads: the A320 from Guildford to Woking and the unclassified road that links Worplesdon to Burpham and thence Merrow and the A25.
The mainline railway between Woking and Guildford marks the practical boundary to the west, however the nearest stations are some distance away, at Guildford or Worplesdon.
There are frequent bus services to and from Guildford and Woking.
Boats are available for hire at Guildford Boatyard, and elsewhere, for use on the River Wey Navigation, which forms the effective boundary of the village to the east. Burpham Lock is about 1km away, and may be reached from Clay Lane, the road to Burpham.
