Jacob Vaage

Jacob Vaage (1905-1994) was a Norwegian historian who served as curator of the Holmenkollen ski museum from 1946 to 1984. He wrote many books about Norwegian skiing, including the Holmenkollen ski festival. Such books he has contributed are shown in the bibliography shown below. Vaage was also curator of the Ski Museum at the Holmenkollen ski jump in Oslo. For his historical works regarding the Holmenkollen, Vaage earned the Holmenkollen medal in 1984 (Shared with Lars-Erik Eriksen and Armin Kogler.). Vaage is one of only eleven non-Nordic skiers to ever win the Holmenkollen medal (Stein Eriksen - Norway, King Haakon VII - Norway, Boghild Niskin - Norway, Inger Bjørnbakken - Norway, Astrid Sandvik - Norway, King Olav V - Norway, Erik Håker - Norway, King Harald V - Norway, Queen Sonja of Norway, and Ingemar Stenmark - Sweden are the others).
