Jacob Thorkelson

Jacob Thorkelson (1876-09-24 Egersund, Norway1945-12-20 Butte, Montana) was a United States Representative from Montana from 1939-01-03 to 1941-01-03.

Thorkelson immigrated to the United States and served in the Virginian and United States Navy Reserves. He also practiced medicine and surgery.

Thorkelson sued Walter Winchell for $1.8 million after being included by Winchell as one of a list of "Americans We Can Do Without" for perceived isolationism. [1]

He unsuccessfully ran for renomination in the House of Representatives in 1940, the Senate in 1942, and for Governor in 1944.
