Jacob P. Chamberlain

Jacob Payson Chamberlain (August 1, 1802 - October 5, 1878) was a U.S. Representative from New York.
Born in Dudley, Massachusetts, Chamberlain moved with his parents to Seneca Falls, New York, in 1807. He attended the public schools. Operated flour mills, malt houses, and woolen mills. Organized the first savings bank of the village. Supervisor of Seneca Falls. He served as member of the board of education. He served as member of the State assembly 1859-1861.
Chamberlain was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-seventh Congress (March 4, 1861-March 3, 1863). He was not a candidate for renomination. He resumed the flour-milling business. He died at Seneca Falls, New York, October 5, 1878. He was interred in Restvale Cemetery.
