Jackson, Mississippi was the lone heavy rocker song from Kid Rock's self-titled release. The song dealt with a man and a decision after he wakes up with the woman he loves staring down on him after a heroin and alcohol binge, either he was to choose her or the drugs. He ends up choosing the drugs and leaves her. The song was his biggest rock hit since "American Bad Ass" peaking at number 14 on the Mainstream Rock charts.
