Jackie Mayo

John Lewis Mayo (born on July 26, 1925, in Litchfield, Illinois) is a former Major League Baseball player who played for the Philadelphia Phillies between 1948 and 1953.[1] He was part of the team that won the National League pennant in 1950 and was regarded as one of the Philadelphia Whiz Kids.[2]

In 1947, shortly after graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Mayo signed up with the Phillies as a free agent. He made his debut on September 19, 1948, and played his final game on September 27, 1953.[3]

Following his retirement from Major League Baseball, Mayo moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where he lives today.
