Blue Zone were the original band that recorded the song Jackie in the 80's. Thus, at the time of the release of Jackie in 1998, it was given the name B.Z. featuring Joanne. B.Z. of course standing for Blue Zone, who recorded the original version of Jackie. Due to this, Jackie was featured as a trial run to see how well it could cope in the charts. Jackie debuted at #3 on the ARIA Single Charts in 1999 and spent over 30 weeks in the Top 50.
In 2001, Joanne performed with Getaway's/Australia's Dancing On Ice Jules Lund (at the time Jules was FoxFm's 15 Days of Fame competition winner). They recorded their version of Jackie which Joanne herself thought it was hilarious and the funniest thing she has ever done.
This song can often be heard early sunday morning in the red room of isobar.
[edit] Music Video
The music video for Jackie begins with a shot of Joanne's lips with the opening line, "I woke up with your name on my lips". Following this part of the video, Joanne appears in several dance segments in different outfits, the key segment is when she is with her two backup dancers in which they all do the signature dance moves to Jackie. The video has the retro feel and look to it in which you see Joanne playing with a rubik's cube and connect four. She also appears on a red blow up chair.
