Jack Watkins

Jack ‘Bluey’ Watkins was a rugby league player in the New South Wales Rugby Leage(NSWRL) competition.
A lock forward Bluey Watkins was renown as a brilliant cover defender, he played in 7 test matches for his country, including the 1921/22 Kagaroo Tour.
Watkins played for just 1 club throughout a career, a career that spanned 14 seasons, interrupted by the First World War. He played in over 100 matches for the Eastern Suburbs side, winning Premierships with that club in 1913 and 1923. The lock forward also won city cups with the Easts club in 1914, '15 and 1916.
After enlisting in the first world war, Watkins was chosen to play a series of matches for Australian Imperial Forces(AIF) against England.
Bluey Watkins died in 1974.
