[edit] Character History

An ex-copper who has had many affairs, Jack yet talks no nonsense and is a man well respected in the community. Jack arrived with his wife and son Darren, whilst daughter Ruth was already living in Hollyoaks. Jack became the new landlord of The Dog in the Pond. Jack immediately caused a stir in Hollyoaks, when it was revealed that he was the father of teenager Dawn Cunningham’s child Beth who needed a kidney transplant. Jack donated one of his kidneys to the daughter he never knew he had. Jude Cunningham tried to blackmail Jack about Dawn’s child, but instead she ended up getting drunk and telling everyone at The Dog. Jack tried to explain to his wife, but she went off to America taking Darren with her.

Jack's love life took another twist when new barmaid Jill Patrick arrived with her children Kate, Gina and Sol and there was an instant spark between Jack and Jill. Soon after her arrival, Jack ended up dating Jill and the pair got married soon after. Jack's relationship with Jill was going well, but there were problems when the children of the Patricks and Osbornes didn’t see eye to eye. Jack was devastated when Jill developed a fatal brain tumour; Jack made a promise to her that he would take care of Gina and Sol after her death. Jack kept his promise when he helped Sol to flee the country after he got himself in trouble, whilst Gina left Hollyoaks for China to do voluntary work.

Meanwhile, Jack was furious when he discovered that his daughter Ruth had been beaten up by her ex-boyfriend Lewis Richardson and he supported her through her ordeal. Jack was however dismayed when Ruth decided to make a fresh start in London. Jack's love life took another turn when he began to date Geri Hudson’s mother Jacqui, but that affair was cut short when she moved to Spain with her daughter Geri. Despite all these comings and goings, Jack was never too lonely when Izzy Cornwell and Toby Mills began to live and work with him at The Dog. Jack then started to date Izzy’s mother Patty while she was separated from her husband, despite Izzy's disapproval. However, that again only lasted a small while until Izzy finally persuaded Patty to return back to her husband. Jack's troubled niece Natalie Osborne arrived from Scotland for the half term after her parents were having trouble, but Jack allowed her to extend her stay providing she attended Hollyoaks Comprehensive School and got good grades. But Natalie failed to live up to her bargain; her sister Rachel showed up and revealed that Natalie had not done well at school and was trying to hide it from him. Jack contacted Natalie's parents and it was decided she should go back home.

Jack then provided a home for the Deans after their eviction from their home, after first being skeptical, he soon warmed to the family and after starting a relationship with Frankie following the collapse of her marriage to Johnno, decided the Deans could live there permanently. Jack is now married to Frankie and are both enjoying a happy relationship. Because of the explosion and fire that occurred at the pub on September 8 2006, Jack and his family were temporarily homeless, but The Dog in the Pond has now been refurbished and they have taken up residence there again.

After finding out that Darren had sold Frankie's jewelry to a pawn shop rather than it being Newt and then betted and then lost his half of The Dog In The Pond in a game of poker to Warren Fox, Jack suffers a heart attack but doesn't die. He comes back to find his wife Frankie has made food for him. He also asks Newt to come and live with them again. Due to his shameful behaviour, part of which includes him losing half the pub to Warren Fox in a game of poker, Darren ends up being kicked out of the flat and ends up living on the streets of Hollyoaks.

Darren has since started living at home again, after proving himself worthy and showing that he regrets his actions, Jack took him in again wholeheartedly, whilst other members of the family were a little sceptical.

He has recently become bankrupt.
