Jack Evans is a politician from Washington, DC, the capital of the United States. He is currently a Democratic member of the Council of the District of Columbia, where he serves as an elected Councilmember for Ward 2.

Evans is a native of Pennsylvania. He received an economics degree[1] with honors (cum laude) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1975, and a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law[1] in 1978. He began practicing law at the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Division of Enforcement and currently serves as Of Counsel at Patton Boggs law firm.[2]

Evans and his children, Katherine, John, and Christine—triplets—live in Georgetown with their golden retriever, Kayla.[3] Evans' wife, Noel, died in September 2003 after a long battle with cancer.[3][4]

[edit] 2008 Presidential Election

Jack Evans originally supported for Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination for president. In November 2007, a press release issued by Clinton's campaign included Evans in a list of co-chairs of the Washington DC for Hillary Steering Committee.[5][6]

In May 2008, Evans announced that he was now supporting Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination. Evans said the reason for the change was because the great majority of voters in his ward, Ward 2, had voted for Obama during the District primary in February. He also said he would prefer a Democrat, rather than a Republican, elected president.[7]
