Jack Anthony is a pop/rock/punk/powerpop artist/group from San Pedro, CA, that is named after the lead singer, whose solo project slowly evolved into the full band that it is today.

Jack Anthony was born Jack Anthony Svicarevich on May 20th, 1982 in Harbor City, CA, to parents Nick and Janice Svicarevich. He was taken to his home in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California shortly thereafter. Jack began playing guitar at age ten, and was writing music by age thirteen. In high school, Jack played in a pop-punk band called Strapping Young Lads with childhood friends Seth Barnes (drums) and David Miller (bass). They played a handful of shows in Los Angeles and Orange County, with notable bands such as Say Anything (band) and The Ziggens. Soon they were forced to change the band name to SYL after being contacted by the Canadian heavy metal band Strapping Young Lad about the name conflict. SYL broke up in 2001 after David had become a full time engineering student at UCLA. In January of 2003, Jack reunited with Seth Barnes to assist him with his first solo project, the full length album that would come to be known as Disaster. In October of that year, someone at the University of California, Irvine had gotten ahold of the album, and contacted Jack about playing their annual Oktoberfest event, to open for local Orange County band Home Grown. Although Jack was still a solo act, he agreed to the show and put the old band together at the last minute, and performed as "Jack Anthony". Jack Anthony wouldn't make another full band appearance until July of 2004, with an almost completely different lineup of band members. On drums was Ruben "Robs" Reitor, a native of Venezuela and music video director, along with Regina Biondo, also from Venezuela. Unlike in the earlier days, Seth Barnes had then moved to lead guitar. The band went on to play countless shows in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, making numerous appearances at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. In the spring of that year, long time Jack Anthony pal Ryan Lai joined the band on rhythm guitar and backup vocals, relieving Jack of guitar duties, and Jack became strictly a vocalist for their live shows. However, in the summer of 2005, Ruben was forced to leave the United States due to the expiration of his student visa, and his inability to stay legally in the country any longer. Just weeks prior to his departure, the band (sans Regina) recorded what came to be known as The Untitled EP. This recording only contained four tracks, and was primarily released online via itunes and other digital retailers. However this release contained the track "Averill Park", named after a local park in the band's hometown of San Pedro, CA (and not after the city, Averill Park, New York), which was received very well by the band's fan base. However, after the loss of Ruben, Regina also left the band, and the band was on a temporary hiatus. Only a couple months later, the band picked up the pieces and enlisted the drumming services of Mike Crisis, a local musician who had gained notoriety after appearing on the MTV show "Becoming", where he played the drums in a remake of a Sum 41 music video. Mike has drummed in several bands, and occasionally fills in for the group Naked Eyes. When Mike joined the band, David Miller rejoined, after having recently graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. In February of 2006, the band filmed a new reality pilot with MTV called Garage Band Makeover. The show was hosted by Story of the Year lead singer Dan Marsala. Ultimately the show was not picked up by the Network. In the summer of 2006, the band went into the studio to record the first Jack Anthony album since Disaster in 2003. The thirteen tracks they recorded became the album known as Spirits and the Scattered Screen, which was released in October, 2006. In addition to being the frontman for "Jack Anthony" the band, Jack also has made several appearances in film and television. Most notably as one of the five "Nerds 4 Life" in the Happy Madison comedy The Benchwarmers. Currently, the five members of Jack Anthony are preparing to return to the studio to work on a fourth full-length album. The tentative title is still unknown, but sources say the release is scheduled for sometime in early 2009.
