Jacareí is a city of approximately 200,000 inhabitants in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Jacareí (the name comes from a native brazilan/Tupi language word that means something like "Aligator River") is an important city in São Paulo state. The economic activity is mainly based on industrial production (some examples: chemical products, paper, glass, and beverages).

The city is located in the Vale do Paraíba (the Paraíba do Sul is the most important river in the east of the state). This region is a highly industrialized one located between the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
