[edit] Wikipedia:Copyright violations
Hello, Wikipedia:Copyright and Wikipedia:Copyright violations explains Wikipedia's policy related to copyright. Currently on the websites I listed, the images and text is copyrighted. All images and text added to Wikipedia, except very few fair use exceptions, must be free for everyone to use without restrictions. Adding the images and text here does not make the existing copyright go away. Please read the policy and see if they answer your questions. FloNight talk 14:08, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My welcome and comments
Hello Jabez! The article is looking much better. It still has the problem of being written from one point of view. You need to understand that other users may edit the article and add text that points out the pitfalls of visting the area. Making articles POV is an important aspect of writing for WP.
I added my welcome and comments back to your talk (discussion) page. It is customary to leave notes from other people in place on your talk page. Once the page gets too long, you archive it. Your talk page is mainly a way that other users communicate with you. You may be surprised to learn that other editors read your talk page also. We do this to find out if a new user has been welcomed or if someone is helping them with an article. Sometimes several editors will have a friendly discussion on a user's talk page. (By the way, it is considered very bad form to remove warnings from your talk page.)
Don't bite the newbies is a important rule. More experienced editors help a new editor understand WP policies and guidelines. We offer alot of advice, hopefully in a friendly manner. FloNight talk 12:09, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- The article doesn't seem to be a copyright violation any longer, so I restored your last edit. Thank you for your contributions. :) // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 10:09, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
I think you need to work on making the article NPOV. --Spook (my talk | my contribs) 11:36, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'll look at the article and make comments on the talk page of the article. If an editor adds some thing that is not relevant, it is better to discuss it on the talk page before you remove it. Removing other people's comments can start edit wars. Best to get a third or fourth opinion rather than remove something it by yourself. FloNight talk 12:46, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you for your advice.
I just started to make the page, I will follow your suggestions, but let me understand the rules of the game. I really don't want to do something against them. I simply need the time to understand. Dmitriy A. Pitirimov

[edit] Jabez aka Dmitriy A. Pitirimov, are you also 84.54.70.6 ?
Dmitriy, sorry to bother you here. Here's my problem: I've noticed certain activity on part of user 84.54.70.6 which is clearly in violation of Wikipedia policies, as well as general netiquette. I would like to discuss this activity with the user, and, if necessary, to bring it to attention of the community.
Just by correlating some of your edits, Dmitriy, with those of 84.54.70.6, and by some tracing, I've come to conclusion that, with high probability, 84.54.70.6 is an IP address that you use, and that, in fact, it may be considered your alias.
Could you please confirm, or deny that last statement? If this is a mistake, I would like to apologise in advance. If, however, my conjecture is correct, I would like to ask you some further questions.
Thanks. 24.184.85.127 23:15, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
I apologise for delay. There is nothing personal in this IP address. It is propably is IP address of Internet cafe where I spend hours, exploring Internet. When I start going to Wikipedia, I am usually signing in first, but it happen somehow, that it lose registration. I think the same situation happened with you because instead of your User name I see only your IP. Because I have many windows from many web-sites simultaneously opened, I possibly, pay no attention to it. In editorial history of the particular page "Tourism in Uzbekistan" I did not find any other editors in addition to me and to all those who are signed. So i must recognize that those editings, mentioned by you, are also mine. But I cannot exclude, that anybody, can go edit to some place Wikipedia from the same Internet cafe as a non-signed user, because Internet cafe is large public place. Kind regards --- Dmitriy Pitirimov 09:05, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- I have had the same thing happen to me. Some cafe's have their cookies set so it's difficult to stay signed in. I can even point out specific examples from my own history if anyone would like. I went back and replaced them with my username later. I don't see any problems and find Jabez's explaination perfectly adequate. --DanielCD 16:49, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Gentlemen, thank you very much for your explanation. Certainly, there is, generally, no one-to-one correspondence between IP address and the person using it; but then, again, quite a few people, even in Uzbekistan, use permanent IP addresses. Perhaps I've overestimated the number of these people in the assessment of the probability of my conjecture. In any case, I understand the situation (with internet cafes, floating IP addresses, multiple users of the same address etc.) and apologize sincerely for bothering you. Fact of the matter is, a user of that address attempted to steal my Wikipedia login. I've received an email about it, of course. Seeing that the user has failed anyway, and that the chances to talk to him or her face to face are slim, I consider the matter closed, at least for a while. I am sorry about cluttering your home page, too (but you, as the owner, can always go ahead and fix that by erasing the topic, I guess...). 24.184.85.127 03:37, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Hello again. Dear user 24.184.85.127, you wrote that "a user of that address attempted to steal my Wikipedia login". You mean IP address that I defined as IP address of Internet cafe that I use. If it so, I can ask owner of this cafe to help in identification of the one who probably could do it. But I need an exact time when this attempt has taken place. If you provide I can try. Concerning me, I live very overt life in Internet, therefore thousands people know my name. And I highly estimate my reputation. When I work in Internet I always try to use my notebook guarded by antivirus. But let me ask you, why you use this hidden form of signing and why you don't have a personal page in Wikipedia? It is strange to me. Kind regards --- Jabez 09:08, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Central Asian Sites
Dear Dmitri,
I have cleaned up Gur-e Amir and Samanid mausoleum a little - I hope the changes meet with your approval. Regarding Lyab-i Khauz - do you think that this could be moved to Lyab-i Hauz? I know that X is normally transliterated as Kh from Russian, but in this case it is a Persian word, which is only written with X in Russian because there is no 'H'. In the Arabic script the word would be written as حوض, which is normally transliterated into English as 'Hauz'.Sikandarji 09:39, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Hello Jabez : ) Thank you for adding articles and photo images to English Wikipedia. Gur-e Amir and Samanid mausoleum are great additons. Everything looks pretty good at Tourism in Uzbekistan now. I hope you keep adding this type of article and the wonderful photo images. regards, FloNight talk 12:31, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Uzbeki girl.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Uzbeki girl.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 23:04, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TURKAN HATUN???
When i was a little girl i read a book which took place in Khorezm Empire. It's like a fairy tale and cought me with it's magic. Since then i wanted to go to Urganj to see the Tilali Garden (i found out that it's still lies under the ground in Turkmenistan and old palace have not been excavated yet).
I was looking for something about the woman called Turkan Hatun. I wanted to now more about the characters in the book and i learned a lot about Jelal Ed Din, Muhamed II, Ozlag shah... But data i found about her were very confusing.
According to that book, she was very cruel, ruled the great Khorezm Empire and she was a mother of shah Muhamed II, grand mother of a brave prince Jelal Ed Din but not very fond of him. She promoted the people of Kipchak but majority in Khorezm were Turkmenian. There was also mentioned very brave turkmen hero Kara Konchar and his maid... And that lasted untill Mongols conquered Khorezm 1221.
But now i found the information that she lived centuries ago and she was a wife of Sultan Melikshah who died in 1092.
As my country was under the Osman Empire for 500 years and their language had a great influence, i am aware that Turkan Hatun was not her real name, it's more like Turkish Lady and probably was used to describe more than one woman who had ipmact to the history of muslim people.
I would really apreciate if you know something about the Turkan Hatun who lived in Khorezm or where to find something about her.
Thanks a lot. Boka

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Sheihantaur 4.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sheihantaur 4.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lupo 15:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Saurs.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. Hello. My name is Tantal-ja, a Japanese Wikipedian.
I'm interested in Islam history and architecture. So I'm writing Islam architecture ver Japanese.

"Encyclopedic content must be attributable to a reliable source."
Period. That does not include your random superstitions and racist remarks, whether or not you somehow feel offended by rational parties pointing out that portions of your contributions are non-encyclopedic. Rather than get into an edit war, which I nevr participate in, I will correctly flag the page as inappropriate and biased. Others can then adjust the page and you will have no basis for assuming any one person is alone in the duty to replace cruft with facts.
Talk about sins and God and other nonsense is highly inappropriate. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.120.83.2 (talk) 20:07, 27 March 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Image:Jabez.JPG
Hi. When you uploaded Image:Jabez.JPG, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.
This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.
If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.
If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.
Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 06:09, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
