Please create new sections at the bottom of the page. Do not presume I know which article you are talking about, provide a link so I do know, even if the article has been deleted. Also, sign your messages, so I know who you are. I will reply on your talk page, unless you tell me otherwise. Thanks!
- If you do not know how to create sections or do not know how to sign messages, please familiarise yourself with those things here and here, respectively.
I will probably remove bot and template messages after reading them, but they are still appreciated. Other messages will stay and be archived, unless they are vandalism, attacks, reveal personal information, etc. If they are, then they may be deleted from this page's history, and you may find yourself blocked, one step closer to a block or the subject of attention at one of the noticeboards. Also remember that a lot of people could read this- for confidential communication, email me, though for the vast majority of messages, here is the relevent place.
[edit] Re: For filling up my watchlist...
Thank you very much for the barnstar, which is much appreciated. I noticed you're not up to much in the mainspace, which is a shame. I think your greater talents lie in improving articles. LuciferMorgan (talk) 01:50, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Would you be able to nominate War Ensemble for deletion? Every few months, somebody decides to create articles for Slayer songs for no reason whatsoever. LuciferMorgan (talk) 16:11, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:Bjaco18
I fully support the 24 hour block on Bjaco18. I do think this will help get the point across that this sort of behavior is unacceptable. While his article building is good, he does need to stay within the rules, like everyone else, and the sockpuppetry is a significant concern. I strongly believe that we need to hold everyone to the same standards, regardless of age. I can point you to some editors who are much older yet act in a less mature way than either Bjaco18 or yourself. My experience is that age is not a good predictor of maturity. Best, Gwernol 10:43, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Noctifer
Can you take a look at the above article? It was actually created by their guitarist two years ago, and I'm not too sure they satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines. LuciferMorgan (talk) 01:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] RE:Naer Mataron
I will contact the band for a basic interview and ask questions. Tell me all the questions you need answered. As of now, I think the article needs 1.) A picture, 2.) Reason for the name change, 3.) A brief explanation to the relationship with DHG. Undeath (talk) 06:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- When I contact bands, I don't ask them directly. I ask them to tell me of the interviews they have done. I'll look them up, or find the written version (if in print). I know the WP:OR policy lol. Undeath (talk) 14:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Help?
I was wondering if you could help me get one of my articles to Good Article status. The Mandrake (band) is the article. I'm having some difficulty on it. The history section is vague, and Ron, the guitarist, didn't do too many interviews. If you help me out, I'll help you out even more. :) Undeath (talk) 15:39, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Horna
I have started a main history section on Horna. This one has potential. A large band that is known throughout the world with many interviews. If you can, and others in the black metal project, let's improve this one. Also, I rated your page B class. I might nominate it soon for peer review.
Also....this will seem weird after the above, but I'm going to do another RfA soon. My last two failed....bad. I've been told that my edits now have been more "admin worthy" in a sense. I need your opinion. Is it looking good or bad. Undeath (talk) 17:24, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't self nom. I hate that. User:Jimfbleak tends to be my nom. Also, I don't have perfect edit summaries becasue when I warn someone for vandalism, I can't do an edit summary on it, I make a new section. For some reason, when I have my preferences on forced summary, it does not let me make warnings that give new sections. Undeath (talk) 17:52, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted page Joanna Wang
I created this page ' Joanna Wang' back in mid April and thought it was fine. A few days following its creation I updated it and expanded it and it seemed to be fine. Obviously after that you deleted it for your own reasons. I had not checked thereafter so I did not know until now.
I never got a message on 'my talk' nor was I notified anywhere of your deletion. It was my very first wikipedia page ever, and I had also made a chinese version of it too. It took me ages to work out what had happened to it, as there was not even a record of it in 'my contributions' and I was beginning to disbelieve that I had ever built the page in the first place.
Ok - so, number 1, can it be recovered? I spent 2 or more hours making it, so please do not tell me that its gone for ever, i'll be pretty annoyed and there is no way I am going to do it again.
number 2. what was wrong with it? Other commentators at the time had fixed some things and it seemed to be fine, you just deleted it without comment weeks later. If there is something that requires adding I will do that. No big deal. I just did not know that there was a problem in the first place.
Its a straight forward wikipedia article on a music artist, there are loads of them, whats wrong with one more? I had at least three if not four sources and a nice little bibliography as well explanation as to why she is popular and what and the type of music she plays. She has a record lable and is recognised internationally as well having performed on tours. Maybe you haven't heard of her, but that surely does not mean it must be deleted?

[edit] Re: Mumler images
An OTRS ticket was sent to the foundation requesting that the images be deleted. You are, nonetheless, free to contest this on deletion review. I would ask, however, that the owner of the appropriate image(s) be contacted in the future before uploading them. -Pilotguy contact tower 19:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, if you're that upset over it, I don't have a problem with you restoring the images. There's really no need to run it through IfD at this point. -Pilotguy contact tower 20:18, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
The owner of the images wanted them to be removed. You are correct that the images are in the public domain however. This was also pointed out to be as something that might be legit, but nonetheless I am asking around to see if we can get the images restored After conferring with others it seems like we can keep these images after all. Thanks for understanding. -Pilotguy contact tower 02:43, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Joanna Wang
Ok the page needed some further sourcing and also expansion as to the biography. The main problem was the there was mostly only Chinese material on her.
I have now had a look to find sources, that are not just from the official website that I provided, but also are on other 'third party' websites in order for it to adhere to 'biographies of living persons' and to reference it sufficiently. So I guess I just post the links in here and describe each one as it goes and then you can tell me whether or not this meets the criteria. Still not entirely sure:
1. Recent review by CRIenglish.com (click for article link) of her latest Album release. (19 of April)
2. taipeitimes.com (one of the most credible newspapers in English in Taiwan) (link here)talks of Joanna Wang's appearance, in particular the last two paragraphs refer to her present day where-abouts as a real singer.
3. writingaffairs.com here's the linka music based website seems to be in a blog form, so maybe not eligible.
Maybe I can find out some more, but she isn't that huge (yet) and its hard to find stuff that isn't blog related or primary material, such as sony records. --Lexxus2010 (talk) 17:05, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 22:22, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the comment! My source was merely Wikipedia itself; going through the articles and looking at the genealogy info already in place on Wikipedia. Not sure what sources can be cited, not sure it needs any as most of the info is well-known.
Germany was ruled by so many different dynasties it was a real tour de force trying to find marriages to link them all together! The resulting product is rather impressive though. Cheers. --Mark J (talk) 11:30, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image of Phil Gascoine
Can you please undo this speedy deletion (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Image:Phil_gascoine11104.jpg)? I asked user Johnfreeman96 to upload this picture, which he took himself & owns the copyright to, so that I could ensure that all the right details were filled in correctly, as he is less comfortable with uploading images. However, you got to the image within minutes, before I read his email to me and was able to attend to it... Please let me know if you need any further info on this. Ta. Jenniscott (talk) 22:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Can I support an undo for this speedy deletion (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Image:Phil_gascoine11104.jpg)? I confirm that as user Johnfreeman96 I own this photograph and asked Jenni to complete the image ID process. I would have thought it was fairly self evident that the picture was my own from my id and the info I did include in the description. Johnfreeman96 (talk) 11:27, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA
Hello, J Milburn, and thank you for your recent participation in my RfA, which was closed per WP:NOTNOW after reaching a vote tally of 5/15/2. While I am disappointed in the outcome, I understand that it - as well as the comments left by yourself and others - was in the best interests of Wikipedia at this time. I plan to take everything that was written to heart and improve myself here on Wikipedia with a goal of perhaps accepting a nomination again in the future, should someone choose to nominate me. As a way of gathering further feedback, I have created a page in my user space for other editors to leave comments about things that they might have observed during my RfA and to continue my "education process," as it may be considered. If you would like to contribute to that page, it may be found here. Again, thank you for participating and I appreciate your comments! --InDeBiz1 (talk) 17:58, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Almost all of these images were my own camera work, and I have got the hard copy of these photographs. A few of them were from websites which do not put any copyright restrictions on the images. It would have been much better if you had discussed before deleting the images, and I would like to know on which website you found my uploaded images as they are my own photographic work. What to do next? NEDian (talk) 10:12, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

As far as I am concerned, my 8 out of 11 images are my own creation as I stated and I can prove whenever desired. Other three are free, as image copyright is a non-issue in Middle East & South Asia; the websites which contain them have no copyright statements even for their books and you are bothering about images. Before calling me deceptive, you should have had a look at my 3-year editing period at wikipedia - a smooth and calm one. I will soon reupload the images owned by me. No offence meant. [edit] RE: Image:Ata al-Ayyubi.jpg
The email I forwarded was an exchange between me and Sami Moubayed, who is the owner of the site, and he clearly gave me permission for the use of these photos. Sami Moubayed, who is a very well known syrian scholar (see here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_Moubayed), has acquired the photos from their original owners (mostly descendants from the people mentioned, as is clear on the about page on the site, http://syrianhistory.com/content/about-site-0). This is Sami's personal website (http://www.mideastviews.com/), you may contact him and clear this out. You can see that I put quite an effort into standardizing all these articles, I really would like to prove that these photos are legally used, in anyway possible. [edit] Delhi Metro images
Hi!.... I have uploaded a few images in the article Delhi MRTS. I got these images from a social networking site in June 2007; the link of this site was there in the article itself. I collected close to 100 images from there, and I have posted the best of them. It will not be possible to search and obtain those images from the original source again. But these images do not violate any copyrights. These images were originally produced by common people using the metro, are available for others to use. Since these are good images, I wish Wikipedia would retain them. Now what tag should I give to such images ? Abhishek971 (talk) 12:09, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi.. As I mentioned earlier, I got these images from a link provided at the end of the article. Most probably they were from a portal from www.skyscrapercity.com. I will try to search those images. But since I got them 1 year back and this portal is a huge one, it would be a very difficult and time consuming task. I will try, but meanwhile, if you can do something, then do it to prevent deletion. Next time I will be careful to provide you the links of the images. Abhishek971 (talk) 10:04, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bjaco again
Hi, I've revised my comment regarding "..just one more chance.." for said editor after having a good look at his contributions. I was under the mistaken apprehension that he'd written the content for WP:WikiProject Mantodea but I now see that this is mostly a cut and paste from another related project. In addition as you say, although created in good faith, most of his pages have required significant editing to conform to wikipedia standards.
You probably deserve an award for the time you've spent dealing with his, sometimes strange, questions (e.g. Weird Al, which I guessed might refer to Weird Al Yankovic?!)
At the risk of sounding patronizing. I'd say he should come back in a few years when he's grown up a little bit!

This is in regards to the image on the InnerPartySystem page, shown on the right. Thanks for the point on the uploaded photo. I was under the impression that logos themselves, posted onto band websites and MySpace were allowed to be uploaded. If this is not the case, then please take down the picture.
A quick question, are the images posted on websites such as Flickr, allowed to uploaded here as well as long as credit is given and such? Cheers Cruciatum (talk) 14:46, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Last question about the Creative Commons usage, is CC-by-nc allowed? Obviously allowing for attribution. Cruciatum (talk) 15:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)- OK then. Thanks for your help in all this by the way. Just so I have myself set for if I need to upload an image again, using Enter Shikari as an example, they don't have a main picture to their page. A quick look through Flickr, reveals this picture of the band playing in Germany. It's not quite right for the Wikipedia entry, so it won't be uploaded, but just using it as an example. What kind of a rationale would I need to give it? Cruciatum (talk) 15:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

- No, it is not a painting but air photos of Bulgaria. They are exhibited outdoors in the center of my city. --Gligan (talk) 15:11, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] von Heeringen
Thanks for your message. Most of my images come from a private collection I own. I though it would be helpful to the Wiki readers and researches if I post some of these rare images here. Many of these are private photos and there are few which have been made into postcards. All of these are either WWI or pre-WWI in origin. Consequently, all of the image are in the public domain in the United States. I may also upload some WWII images from my H. Hoffmann collection. These are in the public domain due to their status as seized Nazi property - please see: David Culbert (1997). "The Heinrich Hoffmann Photo Archive: Price vs United States (United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, 20 November, 1995). Thank you. If you have any questions/suggestions please let me know. [edit] Image:Juan de Amezquita
Yes, let's discuss this properly. Mind you that I have no problem if the image is used or not.
1. I am a military historian recognized by the Government of Puerto Rico and ANSO, but I know that isn't important.
2. The uniform in the image is based on those used by the Captain's of the Puerto Rican militia at the time as evidenced by Capt. Antonio de los Reyes Correa.
3. The Physical features of the subject were derived from those of Jose Andiono y Amezquita, a direct descendent of Juan de Mezquita, born in 1751.
Now, as I have already stated, if you feel that the criteria which I used is not good enough, I'm O.K. with it and end of issue. You know how it is, we have better things to do then to argue over such simple matters. Take care. Tony the Marine (talk) 18:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- No need to apologize, I understand and besides I admire your dedication to our project. I think your suggestion is a valid one. I will add the "caption", plus I will also add the criteria used in the "images" page. I like discussing issues with level-headed people such as yourself. We are friends in Wiki and it has been a pleasure to have inter-acted with you. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for the "gift", I really appreciate it. Tony the Marine (talk) 01:00, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
Thanks for taking the time to contribute, and also not getting swept up in the userbox furore. Apologies for the corrections you had to do to my work; i'll be swapping my work to articlespace for a tick, so i'll try and look over it as carefully as possible before i post. Ironholds 20:50, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, I'm planning on doing that. I've created i think 6-7 articles, but not particularly impressive ones (albums/ep's and an audio engineer, i believe) so I'm going to try and contribute quality rather than quantity as i have been. Ironholds 21:12, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Moses Mescheloff Images
Thanks for bringing to my attention the need to tag the two pictures at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moses_Mescheloff more properly and more clearly. Each was provided by Rabbi Mescheloff himself or by his family to the press. The first appears in an obituary at http://www.chicagojewishnews.com/story.htm?sid=5&id=252007 which appears in the references at the end of the article. The second appears in a bio at http://www.rabbis.org/news/article.cfm?id=100874 which appears similarly in the references at the end of the article. I had assumed that these PR and family pictures were in the public domain. I am checking now with the owners of those two sites to be sure that is correct. I hope they will respond soon. Meanwhile, if you can, please leave the pictures up a few more days until I get the expected responses. If they either has copyright, I expect no problem receiving the necessary permission. I hope I will be able to tag and reference the two pictures then correctly. Thanks for your help in doing this properly, and thanks for your patience. Herbdude (talk) 07:16, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:Oakyuz and copyright violations
Just a heads-up, Oakyuz (talk · contribs) has uploaded another stream of copyright images since your last warning. His latest contribuions are all tagged with a free license and the claim "I created this work entirely by myself". I've done some checking on Google Image and it appears that they were all taken from various websites, where they are either marked copyright or displayed without source and licensing info. --Muchness (talk) 16:22, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Replaceable fair use Image:Meshuggah - band.jpg
"Free images only, please". I do not see many chances to save that image to be deleted. --Cannibaloki (talk) 17:50, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- I understand. You're telling me that, because of the band still active to this license is incorrect. Is this? --Cannibaloki (talk) 20:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks for the mini-lesson of copyright violations, very good. --Cannibaloki (talk) 20:39, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
