[edit] Deletion
Hi mate, I hope all is well since we last spoke. If possible, can you take a look at Synthetic Generation (song), and possibly nominate it for deletion? Thanks. LuciferMorgan (talk) 12:46, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. Have you been working on any particular articles of late? LuciferMorgan (talk) 12:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
-
- Mostly, I've been adding bits and pieces to articles here and there. I think your talents mean a few more FAs should come your way sometime, though to get them you should take on a bigger project here and there. Thought of a bigger article, like Arch Enemy or Lacuna Coil maybe? There's likely enough information lying around for GAs at least, and possibly FAs (if the info is there). LuciferMorgan (talk) 13:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Blood_hawk
as per your request i have created a new section, and will be signing this. i think this mosnter is a prime candidate for deletion. would appreciate if you would be so kind to nominate it and/or leave me SIMPLE isntruction on my talk page telling me how to nominate things for deletion as the wikipedia section describing it went right over my head. keep cleaning up these non-notable monsters! shadzar|Talk|contribs 19:35, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- ok gonna try this AfD thing on the blood hawk article. wish me luck and hope i dont break the internet doing it. but i gotta learn sometime right? (unless you beat me to it and do it before i even get to step one and adding the template. LOL ) EDIT: yup you beat me to it. thanks! i will try on one of the thousadns of other needless D&D mosnter articles. shadzar|Talk|contribs 19:51, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- As an aside, this mess bears the distinctive marks of a leaderless organized attack; that is, someone was annoyed and chose to eschew more conventional forms of complaint by surfing over to 4chan or the like and going HAY GUYS $TARGET$ $INSTRUCTIONS$ $WARCRY$. I've seen a few and found the origin on some occasions. Just another of the fruits of the information age. You may wish to amuse yourself by imagining the sound of incoming anons bouncing off the page protection. --Kizor 19:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- Looks like petty vengeance for a petty matter. We don't have much of a chance to catch the culprit without going all Sherlock Holmes on the Internet, so can I interest you in a vandalism counter? They come in userbox sizes too! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kizor (talk • contribs) 20:04, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dungeons & Dragons AfDs
Hunting down references for fictional things can be an arduous task. It often involves contacting other specialists - which in turn can take up much valuable time, what with the time zone thing and all - and large searches of dead-tree publications. The results can be rewarding, though, since the notability of such subjects need not obey intuition. I feel that editors should always try to conduct AfDs aiming to determine the result wholly on the basis of the subject's merits, which requires giving the editors a reasonable chance to ascertain those merits.
This does not happen when SEVERAL DOZEN ARE STARTED AT THE SAME TIME.
If this move was discussed before it was made, please link me to the arguments involved. In any case, it would very likely be for the best if you did not add any more for the time being, please. --Kizor 17:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] WP:HMM/GA
Alright, I updated everything by looking at the category for WP:HMM GAs. I just have to add one more. —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 23:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Dude, you have to look here: User talk:Burningclean#Sabbath and User talk:Metalstyle#Opeth. I don't know how much you know about Opeth, but this guy is being completly irrational. He will not reason. Please talk to him. I am nearing going to bed for school in the morning and he will not stop. I've reverted multiple times because he is vandilising now, so I don't know if I will be, but he has violated 3RR. I also think he edits under his IP to seem more sneeky. —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 04:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment. I plan to take it to FA (after a bit more work). I understand everything you said about that. I like having an admin involved with things like this because they can monitor what is going on. I really don't know too many admins, and due to the fact that I really only edit heavy metal articles I like having someone who knows what is going on somewhat. Thank you, —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 21:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Argh!
Hey, sorry to bug you, but since you're an admin and all I figured maybe you could help me. There is an IP editor, 64.81.22.37, who I noticed is putting links to a commercial website in articles about languages. You know, like "To purchase lessons on speaking Turkish, go to this site!" kinda deal. I can remove it all, that's no problem, but maybe there's something block-like you can do? The only edits the person has made are to language articles adding in this advertisement, so it's pretty obvious to me it's a single-use spam account. Howa0082 (talk) 20:05, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- So, that ip put spam in the Pimsleur article again, and I put that template on it's talk page like you said. Howa0082 (talk) 04:51, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] D&D AfDs
Hi. While again I tend to agree with your choices of articles for deletion, is there any chance you can hold off adding more for a week until the current batch are processed? It is impossible to keep up and to give each article due consideration when they are nominated in such large numbers. - Bilby (talk) 22:49, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] MOTV Again
Thanks for reviewing the page I created a couple weeks ago. This will link you to the page you mentioned I could build in prior to officially launching in the Wikipedia "real" world for your review User:Ajbaer2/MyOutdoorTV. I originally tried to rewrite so it was less promotion and more information and this time I think we have it right. I mentioned to you that our company is getting lots of requests for a wiki page to talk about who we are - hopefully I have it correct.

[edit] Kopru
Would we necessarily merge Kopru into "Isle of Dread"? Maybe it would be better merged into "Stormwrack" and we could then present brief descriptions of the aquatic races that book has. --SpockMonkey (talk) 22:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Peer review
There's a new PR on the Metal page, from an editor who's rather enthusiastic but needs to learn the ropes so to speak. It'd be great if we could show him the ropes, and therefore gain another valuable editor to the project. I intend to review the article in question later, though it'd be great if you could lend your expertise. LuciferMorgan (talk) 08:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Regarding "A Hard Day's Night": Sorry. I just assumed that the featured version would be better (considering that it was featured). But that's okay. No, I'm not a vandal. I'm trying to make Wikipedia a better place. I'll actually change the article myself (as I did with "Rain, which is a GA nominee) so that it could be a GA. That's all. Have a great day on Wikipedia! - You can understand, but leaving death threats is still wholly unacceptable and immature. I'm not lumping you in with that group, I'm saying that even if editors take issue with his editing (anon or not) posting an old-revision link onto 4chan that has a clear death threat on it and exhorting people to hit the "save" button is tantamount to harassment and can get themselves in real trouble with the law - "anons" on Wikipedia ain't, as I have just showed.
- It is for that reason I've asked for oversight of the edits that 4channers have been using to spam death threats to J Milburn, as well as those edits used to harass two other editors (User:Gavin.collins, User:Jack Merridew). I note that all three were targeted over D&D articles. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 03:43, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- The actions of a few loonies are, of course, not acceptable. One should also probably be asking the question of why people are doing such things, when so many other editors are not receiving the same treatment? J Milburn is the reason I don't contribute to Wikipedia anymore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.101.157.44 (talk) 03:46, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- The mob is a powerful thing. If you add the shield of anonymity, the mob becomes as dangerous a threat to others as a uncaged lion - and as dangerous a threat to itself as a dog chasing a poisoned rabbit. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 03:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- The same could be said about accountability amongst some administrators. 'tis the reason why many mobs are formed, yes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.101.157.44 (talk) 03:50, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- 'Tis also the reason that a mob who attacks unrelated editors who aren't even admins ends up damaging itself. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 03:52, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- So more thought should perhaps be put into action by certain administrators to help avoid the formation of mobs? It would seem you know your history... which comes first? The injustice or the mob? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.101.157.44 (talk) 03:55, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- The mob - Not all mobs come after injustice. Some come after justice as well. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 04:06, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- From personal experience (and i've logged in) this is not the case. His peurile comments on editing the Denton Corker Marshall site (I don't work there anymore) saying "removing useless infobox" without making any attempt to determine whether it was either suitable or even an accepted standard, would seem to be par for the course. Read his comments here...

- Multiply that attitude by his contributions, and you get a mob of pissed off people that either don't want to have anything to do with wikipedia (the most common group, i'm sure) or get quite irate. You might even get a few loonies.
- You should be looking to find out why so many people have so many issues with this particular editor, and what effect it has on the community of contributors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Asperks (talk • contribs) 04:20, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- I looked at that edit you intended to link to and agree with him there. An infobox for a building is inappropriate on the article of a company, even if it's the company that created the building. I'll look at the rest and comment there as I see them. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 05:56, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- And none of the rest you have just listed have inapproprriate infoboxes on them; indeed, most of them had no infobox. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 06:01, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Removing the box but leaving the image, or indicating a company infobox with an image (a minor technical difference that only wiki administrators would know about) would have been appropriate. It's the kind of thing you would expect a mature person to do.
- It was rude, and you know it. And it would seem to be a quite common perception about this particular administrator.
- The image on the infobox, however, had no nonfree use rationale at all (it was later deleted per the "No Rationale" clause of CSD). -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 08:01, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- There are plenty of images that would have suited in that box (like this one) at the time it was removed. There are a multitude of different 'boxes' that have been used for multiple architectural firms, so there is no accepted practice by which it can be judged.
- It was rude. It was un-warranted. It was immature. Comments could have worked. And if a perfectly reasonable person such as myself understand that this has occurred, perhaps you need to re-examine what makes people have issues such as this thread details, in an environment in which it is expected that people contribute.
- So back to the point. It is not only me that recognizes this particular administrator as having a 'style' that antagonizes contributors. A 'style' that creates an environment in which other people (such as User:Gavin.collins and User:Jack Merridew) have to suffer because of. Frankly, he's shown that he lacks the maturity to deal with consensus editing processes, as is evidenced by the many people that have fallen foul to his administrative actions.
- That image you linked to was only uploaded last month, according to the Commons description. The infobox was removed January 26th, and thus the Commons image was unavailable. I now have more issue with you proceeding on a jihad against J. Milburn than with anyone else currently. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 18:47, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I happened to notice your comment on BOZ's talk page that "I thought the consensus was pretty much that the deletions were the best bet? I was under the impression that we were gonna continue with the deletions, then write the lists? " I remind you that the WP policy is that deletion is a last resort when merging and rewriting is not possible. You seem to be planning to go about it backwards. And just who is "we" in this context? Are you planning to form a lobby? DGG (talk) 02:42, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Libris Mortis [sic]
Since you are an Administrator, I hope you will take a more serious approach. A discreet footnote to the effect that the Latin is Liber Mortis is unexceptionable. If you do think that Latin is "original research", I hope you'll look at WP:OR to get the general idea of what that entails. There's no reason to inflict our own ignorance on the Wikipedia reader, and I assure you I am every bit as ignorant of comic books, Metallica and "Dungeons & Dragons" as you may be of Latin and history all that. Wikipedia is first of all an adult reference. --Wetman (talk) 04:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- In re the D&D book: Book titles are book titles. Although the true Latin is as you say (and verifiable as such), it would be out of place in an article about a supplement for Dungeons & Dragons (a fantasy paper-and-pen RPG) and add nothing to the article.
- Further, I wouldn't call Wikipedia first and foremost an "adult" reference. We have kiddy shit as well. -Jéské (v^_^v Detarder) 23:11, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

- Cool, thanks. I'd like FA for it. It is just a slow moving article right now because there are two things I have at featured candidate. I'm not sure what else to do on wiki right now. —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 22:38, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Most of my favorite bands are already GA or FA! Some just don't have enough info because they are so unknown. Dude, what's up with all of the vandals on your talk page? —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 22:46, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well aren't they pleasent... —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 22:57, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Where've you come from?
That's me, I guess--I'm a total speed demon. Not exactly DerHexer, but I'm getting there.
Never had a username change--I've been 21655 ever since I registered in 2005. Of course, I didn't start editing seriously until late 2007, so.... Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 13:07, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- You too dude. And, uh...this should explain why I've been goin' crazy with the reverts yesterday. Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 13:10, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair enough
Actually, I was redirecting them because you kept deleting them, and I was just trying to preserve them. Looking at your contribs list though, it looks like you stopped a few days ago. Sorry about that. OK, I'll leave them alone if your list will remove the need for protecting them. 207.229.140.148 (talk) 21:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Username block
User:7DAYWEEKEND: What is wrong with that username? The caps? It doesn't contain profanity, it isn't long...--Alisyntalk 22:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Audiovisual Sport (AVS)
Hi, I saw you deleted the article on VAS. AVS is an important company in Spain, owning some of the rights of La Liga soccer games (one of the main sport shows in the world). A quick google search returns 50K hits, including sites like Variety, the Council of Europe, and others. I think it's important enough to at least discuss its deletion, and would really appreciate if you can undo the deletion. Jmgonzalez (talk) 23:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
