Tarantula DID appear in Ultimate Secrets

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/8939/tarantulaba1.jpg The comic (one of the marvel guides for the ulitmate universe for 2008) listed that character as the Tarantula second to last page after the Syndicate and before the Ultimate Vulture entry —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.241.71 (talk) 20:46, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

GOD ARE YOU BEING DENSE ON PURPOSE?

IT IS ULTIMATE SECRETS VOL.1 MARVEL COMICS 2008..WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT??????? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.241.71 (talk) 20:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Discuss?? Tarantula's ultimate identity??

Why do I have to DISCUSS infortmation produced by MARVEL itself about a character they created..there is no argument against it. it isn't fan-spec or OR or POV.it is in black -and-0white on a book they PUBLISHED..you're just being obsitnate and not even considering the facts..I think anyone would concede that a marvel book which states that a character is called Tarantula is a valid source of info..unless marvel is no longer an authority on their own copyrighted characters —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.241.71 (talk) 21:06, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Blocked

The attack account has been blocked indef, I've blocked the ip for 24 hours for breach of the 3RR. Best bet is to see what happens. If the user doesn't mend their ways, I can't see them lasting long on Wikipedia. Hope that helps. Hiding T 22:23, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Gotham map

With respect to Image:Gothammap.jpg, I was under the impression that such minor edits were ok so long as no claim of ownership was made over the altered image. Even if the changes were enough to be considered a derivative work, fair use would still apply. —MJBurrage(TC) 07:56, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Green Lantern cat

I had already depopulated it before noticing you tagging it. It's a clear speedy G4, unless you have any reason to prefer CfD. - jc37 11:50, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

It's more that I'm familiar with the CfD process and that this one now look like it needs salting. Is it possible to note that with a speedy? - J Greb (talk) 11:53, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeeeessss... However, I think you're instinct is right and listing on CfD to salt is probably the better route. - jc37 12:06, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ConstantineJLU.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:ConstantineJLU.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

No content in Category:Tokyopop images

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Tokyopop images, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Tokyopop images has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Tokyopop images, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Move done

Is that okay? Hiding T 19:43, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I just moved the talk page too, as it didn't move. Or did I get it wrong. It all looked a bit confusing. Hiding T 19:51, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
    • Ah. I wonder which talk page I just moved then. :( Hiding T 19:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
      • Where do I need to move that talk page back too then. This looks to be a fine mess you've gotten me into. :) Hiding T 20:02, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
        • I'm glad you know what you're doing Stanley, because I am confused as hell. If Jc doesn't nominate you for admin, I damn well will. :) Do I need to be doing anything at this point, or can I go have my bath? Hiding T 20:30, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Two Things

Thanks for the tip re: covers. That's no biggie, and I can easily added more information (although I don't think I've seen any images that log the details as described).

As for this: here

That wasn't a minor edit. There was a comment in the Edit Summary, but I must have done another change (which clears the comment when previewing) and then clicked the "minor edit" box by accident, as it is just above the "Save Page" option. Again, no biggie. I'll include a rationale, but I'm sure you'll agree they were good changes. As for the comment re: edits, all the changes have had rationales (barring the accident above), which is more than we are getting from a great many users at present. I also think you are overreacting a tad by going to an administrator as all changes made recently are in good faith and the edits show as much. Peace.

Hey! (CoC)

Now that's a contribution! Someone else significantly advanced the article! I'm grateful for that one and will seriously consider table-use where possible. Hmmm...lists may not be banned, but as you say I think culling the crowd has merit in these quasi-stub articles.

slash and burn at Daredevil (film)

Hey, I gave this article a MAJOR cut down, because it was, (and still is) one of the worst written Marvel Films. Want to help rebuild it? I think we can do so easily. ThuranX (talk) 05:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

definitely should be merged. ThuranX (talk) 01:29, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

distractions

Actually, I believe that since Wikipedia already had all of the images, that would eliminate one problem with them, and since they were all getting linked to the actual articles about them, that would actually serve an encyclopedic purpose, and they would therefore actually fall within fair use. Doesn't matter, though. It was fun to think about and was a useful distraction from some of the weird things people have been throwing at me, but I have no intention of letting my first post-thethingamabob action make people wonder what the hell is wrong with me. Doczilla (talk) 01:58, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

And I had been extremely curious as to whether anyone else was noticing any of that. Doczilla (talk) 02:02, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Who knows FUR issues really really well? Doczilla (talk) 02:50, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Reading through someone else's thingamabob questions made me think about the fact that I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to FUR. I have never uploaded any image unless I (a) personally took the photo or (b) adapted one that was public domain or otherwise clearly marked as free to alter. Post-thingamabob, I could be in the position sometime of having to consider some of the issues I haven't actually had much to do with so far, sooooooo I'm just wondering who might be best to keep on "speed dial" should I have to judge FUR. And since you just mentioned FUR, that made me to think to ask you about that. You've raiseed FUR concerns with various people before. Doczilla (talk) 04:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Blur

Sorry, but that one is ridiculous. Did you even look at the content before reverting? That passage - complete with inappropriate title - is pure opinion. It is not as though it is an event that happened in a comic and someone just needs to find the issue - it is opinion, pure and simple. There can be no citation for that, other than the writer who is not credible as they are obviously not Mark Gruenwald. It was a fair call.

Asgardian (talk) 09:03, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

???

"Supreme Power is in many ways a homage not just to the Squadron Supreme series created by Mark Gruenwald, but also to Gruenwald himself."

POV all the way! But, then it is me, ain't it? Got to shadow Asgardian in case he ends life on Wikipedia as we know it...

Spelling fix, and indexing

Hi. In this edit, you have indeed corrected the spelling. It was wrong before; now it is right.

However, for the purposes of en:WP, "ł" is indexed like "l". I imagine that this is wrong in Polish (I'd be surprised if it were right), but that's not the issue here. And this is why I'm about to revert your well-intended edit. -- Hoary (talk) 02:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

You need to go fix all of those where you have put improper sort keys in the category indexing, so that the articles appear in the wrong place in their category listings, see WP:CAT. Have you just done that in the recent spate of edits, or have you been doing this for a long time? Gene Nygaard (talk) 06:10, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Note that the "listas" parameter is also a sort key; I saw you added one of them in an article where this problem didn't exist, don't know if you have done any of them improperly in other artiles. Gene Nygaard (talk) 06:34, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Doczilla's RfA

regarding Image:The Monitor.jpg

Why did you change the rationale type here? There was a rationale there already.--Rockfang (talk) 14:30, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Got an editor conduct question...

Does the tail end of the edit summary for the change here constitute a breach of WP:NPA?

- J Greb (talk) 15:49, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

That edit was borderline, but coupled with following edits it was enough for me to decide to protect the page and leave a talk page notice. I intend to stay out of the discussion, however, unless the incivility continues. - jc37 05:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Rumor.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Rumor.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Ok, joking aside (and partially because I don't want to hound you about something if you're truly not interested), are you interested? - jc37 18:34, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm willing to see the process through, I'm not willing to self-nom. Both you and Hiding have pointed out that you think I should be, so by all means, put the nom forward. - J Greb (talk) 01:00, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
(This is a "just-to-make-sure" question) Due to the shortness of the answer it's hard to tell. Are we pushing you, or is this something you think you would want? Personally I can see how you could so use the tools. But I don't want this to be a situation where "I didn't want to be an admin, but Jc37 and Hiding pushed me into it" : ) - jc37 08:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry about that. For clarity:
I take both you and Hiding suggesting/prodding/commenting/et al that I should go for an adminship as a serious complement. And it does look like there are some tools related to it that would be useful. So yes, I would like to give it a go.
As far as not wanting to self-nom... No, it isn't to have someone else to blame if I royaly screw up or find I don't like what comes with the title. It's that... to me there is more credence to a nom by others, less of the cynical "He's doing it for ulterior reasons" that is hard to disprove. I hope that makes sense.

Template:Infobox Comics creator

Your recent changes to {{Infobox Comics creator}} messed up the imagesize paramater in articles like Art Adams and Jerry Siegel (making the images display at their full resolution), so I reverted it back to the November 11, 2007 revision. --Pixelface (talk) 03:24, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Lucky Luke

Hi I saw you have created some Lucky Luke album pages, I have also made some stubs if you could help in polishing them up it would be great. Haphar (talk) 10:01, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Teen Titans v3 1.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Teen Titans v3 1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Green Lantern template issue

This [1].

And yes, I'm more than a bit ticked over it given what it garnered on the template talk.

- J Greb (talk) 04:34, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Addendum:
And the meatpuppet has edited the unprotected template as per "consensus".
I'm also not too keen on on other aspect that have cropped up on talk pages after contributing to an ANI. But most of it is after the fact re this templates.
- J Greb (talk) 12:12, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I'd shy away from calling the user a "meatpuppet", but that said, it does look a little close to Wikipedia:Canvassing#Forum_shopping. (And I'm slightly concerned in someone determining "consensus" without actually noting it on the talk page...) And my understanding of m:The Wrong Version is that the page should be reverted to a version prior to the dispute.
Also, I dunno if someone who says they "support" in the discussion should be considered the one to determine consensus. I'm not saying they can't (I've done it myself on occasion), but whether they should in this case.
However, that aside for a moment, perhaps the better path would be to create what you suggested on the talk page: List of Green Lantern creators, similar to List of Batman creators.
And I didn't understand your last two sentence of your addendum. Could you clarify? - jc37 17:54, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
It deals with Net and what may be an overdeveloping sense of paranoia on my part. For the most part we've rarely crossed paths, but we've hit a few issues in succession:
The template I chalk up to his taking note of a call for opinions I left on the DC work group talk since that is his only contib to the template.
The ANI is something I notice there an commented on, and was rebuffed for. And that was followed by his comment on Robin that had be scratching my head.
It's and odd bit of synchronicity.
As for Hemlock, noted. But it does sit as a very wrong tact from Clow. Especially when he comes back and chides me for suggesting he not embellish facts.
- J Greb (talk) 23:21, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Interesting, your view of "synchronicity". I think the same of you, and am purely mystified how you suddenly appear on an ANI when you were not involved in the article in the first place. My interests at times intersect with your own as to comic related matters, and in fact I was adding and/or editing content before you even arrived at Wikipedia. However it might be best if we avoid policing one another and simply keep to a respectable distance. Your comments repeatedly are peppered with your heavy disdain for me, and are not conducive to constructive interchange. As to the GL template, your viewpoint is simply not shared by all editors, it happens.Netkinetic (t/c/@) 01:44, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Please pardon the direct way I'm asking this, but are you (J Greb) the IP - 66.109 - in the discussion? - jc37 10:34, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Reasonable question given the way things are going. But no, that IP isn't me. - J Greb (talk) 13:40, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Although J Greb and I do often swim in the same ponds, and have similar opinions in regards to style of Navbox's, we are not one in the same. About six mths ago we both contributed to discussions trying to discern formatting of navbox's and I sought his input early for this particular Navox. I'm simply an editor trying to put faith back in anonymity. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 15:18, 23 February 2008 (UTC).
Thank you both for the clarification.
Then, based on the strength of the current arguements, I still see No Consensus yet. Though I've already noted on that talk page that I'd like to see this discussion continue for at least another week. (And I've also posted it to the WP:CMC noticeboard.)
In the meantime, regardless of the results of the discussion, it seems to me that the list you suggested would be a valuable addition to Wikipedia. Any volunteers to get it started? : ) - jc37 22:02, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Hulk

thanks for reverting those changes. I"m hopign he'll go to the talk page, but I don't want to be the only one reverting him, for fears of ownership issues. It was frustrating to see that massive blankings, in light of JUST getting the Good Article status. I'm hoping he's willing to talk about it, but it really does seem ... peacocky, 'flush with success' and so on. Stan's 'the man', but his ego's titantic when he talks about himself... writes about himself like HE is a superhero sometimes. ThuranX (talk) 05:32, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Nope. He's made it clear that he doesn't have to discuss, so I left the page, and I'm cleaning the house and thinking about whether i give a shit about the project. I got lots of help rewriting that article, I avoided a primary source I felt had issues in favor of strong secondary sources, and this is the result. It's ironic; I'd been starting a text file this weekend about how to augment the powers section with the Grest/Weinberg critiques, in a push for FA, but I guess it's just as well. The house looks clean, I might decide to clean instead of Wiki from now on. ThuranX (talk) 00:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
No thanks, I think i'm leaving the project. He's not talking, he's doing. He's got a vision for the article which I find to be too fannish, which is what started me down the road to fixing it in the first place. His blanking of massive sections of the research I did, without explanation at all, was just blanking vandalism to me. Regardless of how much it's a fawning paean to Stan Lee, he doesn't care. Does it need more in some areas? Yes. Is this the way to get it, with purple prose and his 'I know better' attitude? No. You reverted him, Brian Boru reverted him, I reverted him and asked him to come to the talk page. I didn't post there, I let him present his side. When I responded, his attitude was, in a nutshell, 'You don't know what you're doing, and this article needs ME to fix it because it's not really a GA, so go away'. So I'm gone. I've always been open to working on the article, I posted some sections regarding further fixes. There's really not much in the way of 'reception' from the 1960's that I could find, and little actually examination of the character's reception. What little is out there is recent and oriented to the storylines and story arcs of recent writers, not examinations of the characters. Reception of the writers' efforts belongs on their pages, to my mind, with only slight comment on the popularity or lack thereof on the character's page. It's been hard finding good statistics about the popularity of the character; marketing research would be ideal but it's guarded and proprietary. I did the looking back then, and if someone has more suggestions, I'd have considered it before this. As is, I've unwatched the article, and I don't really want to look back. ThuranX (talk) 00:59, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Look at the irony of this well after I said this. This first thing I said we should discuss, he makes into a snarky snide remark, and then goes and reinserts all the content that was problematic. This shows me that David Fuchs intends to ignore all my commentary, all my efforts and suggestions, and based on his earlier edits, won't be stopping any time soon with the blanking and removal of the research I did.
