You will have to upload that on to Wikipedia's servers. BUT if the picture isn't yours, you should instead take your own picture of the school. Then upload that photo on Wikipedia. WhisperToMe 04:50, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Openpic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Openpic.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Openpic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Openpic.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BrownCow • (how now?) 19:01, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Escuela Secundaria Lamar

Hi there, Jesse! Am I guessing correctly that you intend to translate Lamar High School (Houston) into Spanish? (and possibly, other languages as well?) The reason I am so curious is not just the merry season :) -- but that's because here, in the English section of wikipedia, only material in English will stay. Wikipedia is a multilingual project but currently, there are separate wiki-s for every language (Spanish, French, Hebrew...). Anything posted here in a foreign language is either supposed to be translated into English or - sorry to say - will be deleted. Since there is an English article for Lamar High already... you guessed it.

What I think we should do with the Spanish version you just wrote, is move it to the Spanish wikipedia. You may need to upload the picture of your school over there anew, or, better yet, upload it to commons and that way, your picture will become automagically available in every language wiki.

When you will have your Escuela Secundaria Lamar article created over there, please don't forget just one more quick step: link it back to Lamar High School (Houston) by way of using an interwiki (that is to say, simply add at the very bottom of your new article page this bracketed line: [[en:Lamar High School (Houston)]].) Then, also link the English article to your newly created article in Spanish wiki in the same fashion. All done!

I hope I am making sense here to you but, if "not quite" :) -- or if you would like me to help you with the move, or should you have any question at all, just call me. You can either reply right here on your talk page (I will be watching for a few days) or write your reply at my talk page , or you are welcome to send me an email. You could also post a question or request for help on the page with requests for translation, that's where I listed your article... before I noticed the already existing English version. Cheers and best wishes for the holidays - Introvert • ~ 07:30, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] You are in luck, dude!

I fished the Spanish content you made and moved it to es:Escuela Secundaria Lamar (Houston) WhisperToMe 04:37, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

HISD has one too: es:Distrito_Escolar_Independiente_de_Houston WhisperToMe 05:13, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] URGENT

Hey, someone made a request for es:Escuela_Secundaria_Lamar_(Houston), which is at es:Wikipedia:Consultas de borrado/Escuela Secundaria Lamar (Houston) - You originally wrote the Spanish article - please get to work on translating the rest of the article so we can override the AFD! [edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Samsung SGH-T629.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Samsung SGH-T629.JPG. The copy called Image:Samsung SGH-T629.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 02:45, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:AKNoOne.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:AKNoOne.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 21:44, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1937 Lamar photo

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:LamarHS1937.jpg&diff=159519856&oldid=159515391

Where did you get this photo? WhisperToMe 05:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, you need to identify who created the picture on the image source - just because you posted it doesn't mean that the image is in the public domain. The image is the copyright of the photographer. If the person who owns the picture does not care that it's on the internet, the image description should state the source and in all likelihood the image will stay on here (You can state a fair use by saying that there is no alternative to show the school as it was during that time period). WhisperToMe 01:43, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Please look at this Image:LamarHS1937.jpg and explain who took the picture (who was the photographer?) and where you found the picture. WhisperToMe 23:02, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:LamarEmblem.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:LamarEmblem.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:16, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] May 2008

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to :Image:Aktla.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Exact copy of http://www.alicia-zone.net/pictures/displayimage.php?album=132&pos=20 yet you falsely claimed ownership. Release is, of course, invalid since you don't own the image. You don't own stuff you just find on the web. NrDg 22:49, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
