Chesswas wrote two books that were seminal to the orthography of the Luganda language.

This information is contained in the article. It is very difficult to find publications online which refer to Chesswas' work; there is buganda.com: http://www.buganda.com/luganda.htm. I don't know of any books which do - because Chesswas' book is one of the few that address the topic, being a linguistic pioneer himself. However, if you search Luganda Chesswas you will find his books in plenty of reference lists.

The Luganda language article references Chesswas.

It is difficult to thoroughly document this sort of thing when you're dealing with such an undeveloped people group. But this is a language spoken by 3 million people, second only to English in Uganda. That should be enough to indicate the significance of orthography for such a language.A.J.Chesswas 11:24, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
