J. R. Richards (born on 30 April 1972 in Santa Barbara, California, U.S.) is the lead singer for alternative rock band Dishwalla. He has appeared in the films Almost Anything and Morning and he guest starred on Charmed as himself. Richards also sang the title role in a concert production of Jesus Christ Superstar with the Golden State Pops Orchestra. In 1995 his band, Dishwalla, had a #1 hit with their song, "Counting Blue Cars", which sold well over 1 million copies. His band has gone on to produce three other albums, including the 2003 hit, Opaline. He has one child with his wife, Shannon.
