The J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center (HSC) can be located in both Gainesville and Jacksonville. The Center comprises the University of Florida's Colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health & Health Professions and Veterinary Medicine. The Health Science Center is the only academic health center in the United States with six health-related colleges located on a single, contiguous campus.[1] The facility was named after the 4th President of the University of Florida J. Hillis Miller, Sr..

In addition, the Health Science Center is a world leader in interdisciplinary research, and generates over half of all UF’s total research awards. The HSC is also affiliated with Shands at the University of Florida and Shands Jacksonville. In all 6,159 total students are enrolled in all six of the colleges.[2]

The Health Science Center is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, master and doctoral degrees. Each of the professional colleges or programs is accredited by the appropriate agency for the profession or program.
