J.D. Alexander is a Republican member of the Florida Senate, representing the 17th District since 2003. Previously he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1999 through 2002.
Alexander moved with his family to Florida in 1961 and received his BS degree from the University of Florida in 1981. He is the grandson of Ben Hill Griffin, Jr., a Florida cracker and also a former Florida State Senator. His great-grandfather, Napoleon B. Broward, served as Governor of Florida from 1905-1909.
