J. B. Smoove (born Jerry Brooks)[1] is an award-winning American actor and writer best known for his role as Leon Black in Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has also had recurring roles on Everybody Hates Chris and Saturday Night Live; on SNL, he worked as a writer and was a recipient of the 2007 Writers Guild of America award for Best Comedy/Variety Series (Including Talk). Smoove's films include Pootie Tang, Mr. Deeds, and the upcoming Frankenhood. He also had a recurring role on an episode of Til' Death with Brad Garret and Joely Fisher.
Smoove was born in Plymouth, North Carolina and raised in Mount Vernon, New York.[1]
