Jesse Bartley Milam was the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1941 to 1949. He was appointed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

J.B. Milam had a daughter named Sara and loved her very much. One day she went out into the forest and picked berries. Then the next day she picked more, but when she got back her father told her that these berries (which were actually tomatoes) were poisonous, and that she need to stop eating them immediatly or she would die. Sara got very made at her father and ran away. She ended up eating these berries for the rest of her life. She lived to be 49 and then got attacked by another Indian tribe. But during her life she was a good friend to all the animals in the forest and was very humble.
