If you lose the game, you must remain inside the devilish tree until you defeat another lost hiker or biker who falls into the lair. Peter avoids defeat from the aged Nathaniel in the final climactic scene when his sister and his friend realize the pitchfork tree is indeed what is holding the aura and power of this game and they push it over with the help of lightning generated by the game.
