J.-Omer Asselin was a Canadian politician and a City Councillor in Montreal, Quebec.

He ran for a seat on Montreal's City Council in 1940 and won. He was re-elected in 1942, 1944, 1947, 1950, 1954 and 1957.

He served as Chairman of Montreal's Executive Committee during Adhémar Raynault's and Camillien Houde's tenures as mayors from 1940 to 1954. He did not run for re-election in 1960.
