My RFA

Hi J-stan, just a quick note to say thanks for participating my request for adminship. It was successful and I now have some shiny new buttons. If I can ever be of help, please let me know. Happy editing, mattbr 09:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Alright! Happy administrating! J-stan Talk 15:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Don't apologize

Don't apologize for being humorous. :) Acalamari 22:44, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I was just worried I had offended you because it appeared other users had pestered you about it. J-stan Talk 22:46, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Nah; a message like that wouldn't offend me. :) Acalamari 23:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Cool. J-stan Talk 23:03, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

vandalism task force

Noticed your comment on the CVU talk page (which I moved to the bottom cause that is where new sections go.) I read your idea and was wondering what exactly it would be? Oysterguitarst 07:38, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it could work. Oysterguitarst 19:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for your support in my recent RfA. However, it was unsuccessful. I am in no way disheartened, and I will hopefully succeed in a month or two. If you have any further suggestions or comments, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page, and I will be happy to respond. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 02:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

 !vote

Just to reply to your question at WT:RFA, "!vote" is a term that people use to get around the fact that Wikipedia is said to be based on consensus rather than voting. Editors don't want to be told this every time they use the word. It means "not a vote", but is usually used in contexts where the word "vote" fits the situation well - like RFA, where we say consensus supports promoting a new admin, even though "consensus" usually just means "supermajority". Dekimasuよ! 03:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC) I see. Thanks!J-stan Talk 14:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Paintball strategy

Sorry it's been a while, I spent all last week moving 4 states north. Anyway, looks like the paintball strategy page was deleted. --Milton 17:26, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok. I was interested because there was the possibility of interwiki-ing. J-stan Talk 17:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:Judgement

Thanks for the comments. I look forward to being renominated, but not not today, and not now. Stay safe, and again thanks for the kind words. TomStar81 (Talk) 22:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Sure thing. Whenever you're ready, my offer to nominate you still stands. J-stan Talk 01:43, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

About comments made earlier on CVU talk page

Hi, I'm really flattered about the suggestion of joining the project. I've always considered devoting more of my time to the fight against vandalism. But truth be told I'm still not that good at using Wikipedia even though I've made my own start class article. Plus I'm worried about the reprisal attention from vandals. Although I will say it would be great if there was somewhere informants could go and just give a name and and an article and forget about it, safe in the knowledge an anti-vandal will take care of it. Do you know of any such places Ryan4314 05:12, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Emo (slang)

Ah, no problem. I used to care about that page (maybe a year ago?). --emc (t a l k) 21:11, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Twinkle

Hi Stan, I just installed Twinkle, is there anywhere I can test it though? Ryan4314 00:38, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Adminship

I have done some thinking about this and reached an interesting conclusion: since I resigned my rfa to end the edit war there and keep our contributers here we (by which I mean wikipedia) never resolved the issue of whether or not I should be admin here. Now that everyone has had a chance to distance themselves from my original rfa and the fiasco that ensued this would likely be a good time to reopen the issue and determine with certainty whether or not I meet admin requirements now. In light of this I think the time is right to take you up on your offer to renominate me for adminship so we can see what the community has to say without the added circus sideshow. If I pass this time then so be it, if I fail then I will have lots of suggestions for improvement. At the same time I would like to thank you for your offer to renominate me; I apreciate it very much. TomStar81 (Talk) 00:55, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, its up; now the question is whether or not it will pass. On an unrelated note, I notice you now have a discussion box with a very familar design. Just in case in were curious, you are the second person to have borrowed the design and modified it for their own ends :) TomStar81 (Talk) 03:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for participating in My RfA which closed successfully. I am honored and truly more than a little humbled by the support of so many members of the community. It's more than a bit of a lift to see comments on my behalf by so many people that I respect. I'll do my best to not disappoint you or the community.

On a personal note, I'd particularly like to thank you for your encouraging words there. - Philippe | Talk 07:23, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Emo (Slang)

Since Cheeser1 and emc can't come to a consensus. I have decided to leave cause I do not want to take part in a argument over something so small. Oysterguitarist 18:49, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

I guess that leaves emc to do what ever with the artical seeing as it appears Cheeser1 has also left. That just gives more time to fight vandals. Oysterguitarist 19:08, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. Oysterguitarist 19:16, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Twinkle

Thanks for the advice Stan, I shopped this guy pretty quick User talk:66.37.229.72 and although he's made vandalism in the past and had a "block without warning" message it seemed this was only experimenting, so I just gave him a general note. What do you think I should've done? P.S is there anywhere I can find the text of the different warnings?

Also take a look at this page Mike Read there seems to be an edit war going on by numerous biased parties who are unregistered, what do you think? Ryan4314 21:44, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Stan don't forget, where I can find descriptions of what the warnings say? Ryan4314 22:09, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Like where can I find an example of the text each warning says? e.g "general (1)" says something like:
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to ******, was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
I actually found a list of the warnings on this page: Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace Ryan4314 11:06, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey Stan check this article: Mak zheyu out, a candidate for deletion right??? Ryan4314 12:50, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
It seems to be some article a bunch of school kids have made up, it's been deleted numerous times, I'm sure it'll pop up again. (Keep an eye) Ryan4314 00:23, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Splinter Cell Conviction

I deleted this conversation. I was accused of vandalism. I have never, nor will I commit any acts of vandalism to this encyclopedia. I was making edits with no intent of causing a disturbance. The actual edits I made were the reverting of the inclusion of unsourced statements in the page for which this section is named, made by the commenter, and he started flaming me. I have contacted User:Beem2, the commenter, and I have asked him to assume good faith. Please understand that deleting conversations is not a common practice for me, but this comment was spreading false accusations of vandalism, and I was protecting myself by removing this information that could damage my reputation on the project as a good editor.) Unusual Adoption Request

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.

Thank you!

Thank you

Thank you
Thank you for your support of my recent unsuccsessful rfa, which concluded today with a final tally of 22/15/3. The comments and suggestions from this rfa, combined with the comments left during my first rfa, have given me a good idea of where I need improvement.
TomStar81 (Talk) 05:01, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your support at my recent Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Angus Lepper RfA, which failed, with no consensus to promote me. However, I appreciate the concerns raised during the course of the discussion (most notably, a lack of experience, particularly in admin-heavy areas such as XfDs and policy discussions) and will attempt to address these before possibly standing again in several months time. my talk

First of all, DON'T delete anything on my talk page. Second, that isn't against the rules. Thirdly, Adam.J.W.C. uses it, so don't take any notice of it.--Willy, your mate 23:24, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi, J-stan, and thanks for your participation in my RfA. I've withdrawn it, and will be writing up an "analysis" of it, which will soon be available at User:Giggy/RfA/Giggy when it's done. Please come around when you get the chance, and give me feedback on how I can improve. Thanks again, Giggy UCP 04:04, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

RideABicycle/Kosovo

Er, hello. Why did you delete my posting to that user's talk page? He had contributed to Balkans articles and so seemed to have an interest? We're inviting contributors with an interest in the Balkans. And why would you delete from another user's page? No problem, just interested! DSuser 16:37, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Cool, no problem. DSuser 16:42, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

You're fighting over my Userpage? I'm honored! This one is for J-stan.

WikiThanks
WikiThanks for being concerned enough to fight vandalism on my talk page, and WikiThanks even more for reverting your screw-up. RideABicycle | Talk | 21:23, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
no sarcasm intended...haven't you been reading WP:AGF? hehe RideABicycle | Talk | 23:12, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
