Where is it stated that Ukitake is: "Ukitake is the eldest son from low-class aristocrat Ukitake family. He has five brothers and two sisters; he basically supports most of his family members by himself."

Is this merely speculation or is there some substantiation for the following information? -yueni 17:28, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

The proof is in Volume 18 (tankoban) of the manga, where profiles of Ukitake and Kyoraku can be found. 24.81.138.58 07:25, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proof?

In what anime episode is the whole Toshiro & Joshrio in? or is this manga?

It's in several manga omakes as well as at least one of those shorts after anime episodes. I will provide the episode number if I find it. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 21:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
It's in Shinigami Cup 67 and Shinigami Cup 69. Jezebel Parks 23:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hitsugaya

In a fatherly manner? Er, it didn't seem like that in the anime. ETA: "Come to my room later if you want. I'll have even more snacks!" ~ep. 67, Lunar—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.45.149.198 (talk • contribs) 23:45, 16 April 2006 (UTC).

>>As a response to that, I doubt he is a pedophile. I have heard his character song, and according to Kubo, they are kind of like insights into characteristics that are not obviouse in the storyline. Basically kind of like the characters want, or again, just some characteristics. The song in a nutshell is him watching children in a playground and envying their innocence, and that he wants to have kids of his own so he can "share the blessing he has known." And Ukitake has neither a wife nor kids and there is little Hitsugaya as a captain, facing things little kids like him don't normally face and the paternal instinct kicks in and with Hitsugaya being a grumpy guy there is Ukitake wanting to cheer him up and be there for him (paternal instinct). But I doubt that Ukitake can tell that Hitsugaya doe snot like the attention. Probably because Hitsugaya is not used to it.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by SkySurferess (talkcontribs) 17:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Power

It can be stated conclusively, that along with Shunsui, Ukitake is the second strongest captain in soul society. Genryuusai states that their powers are "greater on the battle field than anyone younger generation or old". This would also include individuals such as Shihouin Yoruichi and Kisuke Urahara. So I'm adding that bit of information in. --Waenishikusu 22:16, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Can you please provide the chapter and page where he says this? Because I must've missed it. Thanks. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 11:23, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Chapter 155.

I delve much deeper into it in the Shunsui discussion, so check up there too.--Waenishikusu 23:50, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Also, if anyone wants to discuss the edits I just made to both of them, check there.--Anaraug 08:15, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't think that the evidence is conclusive enough to say that Ukitake is the strongest, aside from Kyouraku and Yamamoto. Yamamoto's remark was probably just simple praise, coming from the fact that he is very close with the him (and Kyouraku) and has trained them for a long time. It does not state directly that they are above the power of the other captains. I mean, there might hve been new developments in their strength and the others that we might not know of, and until we see more of their battles, I don't think we should include them. I'll change it and leave the editing up to you guys later. N Dot W 09:10, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

I've been reading "in depth" into the mangas lately, and I believe this should be added: "A brief scene in Chapter 172 of the manga suggests that, together, Ukitake and Kyouraku are more powerful than Captain-General Yamamoto. This is apparent from the number of injuries sustained by the three characters when they are shown at the end of their fight." But, I won't add it myself... if a member decides it's OK, they can add it, both here and on Kyouraku's page (the shinigami character list). -unsigned- 9:23, 17 October 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.195.204.3 (talk)

Yamamoto had a number of scars to begin with, and I see no indication that he received any additional wounds during his battle with Ukitake and Kyoraku. ~SnapperTo 02:52, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Actually, in the Chinese translation, it was only stated that Ukitake and Kyoraku were 'unsurpassed in battle by any other in your generation, or those who have come before you'. So I think we still need an exact translation from the Japanese original to verify how strong Ukitake really is. I expect there will be more on the strengths of Ukitake and the other captains in the newer chapters as the battle in Hueco Mundo unfolds. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.18.170.48 (talk) 10:15, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tuberculosis

Nowhere in Volume 18 does it state that Ukitake is suffering from tuberculosis. Will make changes accordingly.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kazeoto (talk • contribs) 10:09, 31 October 2006 (UTC).

Note that it says "Volume 18", not "a chapter in volume 18". In other words, I think it's from his character sketch page. Do you own the physical tankōbon to check? --tjstrf Now on editor review! 10:27, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
It says in his character sketch in vol 18 (page 206), in the 3rd bullet point. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 15:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Jan 19th - small change in character profile. Mentioned that his eating style is a sign of TB. Corvus.ag

How can as spirit get sick???Lego3400: The Sage of Time 02:06, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Soul Society is pretty much just like the living world. Those who inhabit it eat, breathe, and act just as they would in the living world (with a few expections). I'm sure that they can get sick as well. // DecaimientoPoético 02:15, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

I would like to point out that consumption of a lot of food is NOT a classical symptom of Tuberculosis. It's quite the opposite. Those suffering from tuberculosis tend to lose their appetite. --Icedagger (talk) 14:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shikai

I found it odd that Ukitake's shikai panel wasn't added. I photoshopped and added it. -Biokinetica 23:54, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I think we usually go to the anime for those, due to the advantage of colour in portraying things. In fact, there used to be an image there. Probably deleted as unsourced or something. --tjstrf talk 00:00, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Color is an advantage, but this is the only shot from the animé that shows it's entirety, and the fire's so bright that you can't see the details. -Biokinetica 03:01, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

The movie has a good shot of it. Too bad the only copy out is a crappy cam shot version. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 03:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
There is a good shot of it in one of the earlier ending sequences i cant remember which episode though, it would be in the thirties—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vastrolord (talk • contribs) 07:12, 19 April 2007 (UTC).
38 is probably the one you mean, but the credits obscure it. Piecing together a working shot would be a pain in the ass. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 07:26, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Added a picture from the movie. See Image:UkitakeShikaiBleachMovie.jpg. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 04:05, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ukitake training Byakuya.

Although it isn't here,it is in the Byakuya page that Ukitake was his senpai under the history section.I'm not sure where it was stated in the Bleach manga though.Should that information be added here too?--Hanaichi 01:17, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] introduction

Wasnt he introduced in Rukia's flashback while Ichigo was fighting Grand Fisher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.234.56.107 (talk) 05:54, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Wasn't he acually named in the first OVA Memories in The Rain? So isn't that when he is first introduced? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Soccerfan217 (talk • contribs) 03:03, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, you must understand that the manga existed before any aspect of the anime.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 03:37, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
