Jürgen Trumpf

Jürgen Trumpf was appointed Secretary-General for the Council of the European Union and held the office from September 1, 1994 to October 17, 1999.

When the Amsterdam Treaty, came into force, he was officially the first High Representative for the CFSP(Common Foreign and Security Policy) of the Council of the European Union but was due to step down a month later.

He was succeeded by Javier Solana who was appointed successor of Trumpf in both positions at the Cologne European Summit.
