Jürgen Hingsen (born January 25, 1958 in Duisburg) is a former (West) German decathlete who won several medals at international championships in the 1980s. The 200cm tall athlete came second in the Olympic decathlon at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles behind Daley Thompson. In 1984 Hingsen also set his personal best at 8832 points which was temporarily a world record and is still a German record. [1]
During the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Hingsen made three false starts in the 100 m and was disqualified from the rest of the competition.
