Júlio César da Silva

Júlio César da Silva, usually known as Júlio César (born March 8, 1963 in Bauru (São Paulo) was a football (soccer) player from Brazil. He played central defender with many teams in Brazil, Europe and with the Brazilian national team. He was widely considered one Brazil's best central defenders. He also contributed in attack, frequently making runs into the opponent's half using his midfield like technical skills to great effect as well as his aerial ability too.
He should not be mistaken with Júlio César da Silva e Souza, Júlio César Santos Correa and Júlio César Soares Espíndola who have also played in Europe under the same nickname.

He won the UEFA Champions League and European/South American Cup with Borussia Dortmund in 1997.

Júlio César played 13 official matches for the Brazilian national team. He also played for Brazil against "The Rest of the World" in 1989 and for "The Rest of the World" against Brazil in 1990.
He played the Football World Cup 1986 and won the Best Central Defender Award.
