Jørgen Brøndlund Fjord

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jørgen Brøndlund Fjord (occasionally: Brøndlund Fjord), located at the southern shore of the namesake fjord in Peary Land, northern Greenland, was a radio station and until 1950 the northernmost permanent outpost of the world, at 82°11′N, 30°45′W. Since then, Alert, a Canadian settlement, holds this distinction. Brondlund Fjord, the fjord, is about 30 km long and 1 to 2 km wide, and opens out to Independence Fjord from the north.
