Jánico

Jánico is a municipality (municipio) of the Santiago province in the Dominican Republic. Within the municipality there are two municipal districts (distritos municipal): El Caimito and Juncalito.[1]

As of the 2002 census the municipality had a total population of 20,913 inhabitants, 2,999 living in its urban settlements and 17,914 in its rural districts (Secciones). 14,919 did live in its seat (cabecera literally head), 1,852 in the town of Jánico itself and 13,067 in its rural districts. The municipal district Juncalito had 5,994 inhabitants, 1,147 living in the town itself and 4,847 in its rural districts).
