Ján Popluhár

Ján Popluhár (born 12 August 1935, Bernolákovo) is a former Slovak football player. He played for Czechoslovakia, for which he played 62 matches and scored one goal. He was a participant at the 1958 FIFA World Cup and at the 1962 FIFA World Cup, where Czechoslovakia won the silver medal.

In 1997, Popluhár was awarded with the World Fair Play award. In November 2003, to celebrate UEFA's Jubilee, he was selected as the Golden Player of Slovakia by the Slovak Football Association as their most outstanding player of the past 50 years. [1]
