[edit] Suvadiva atoll

Please do not edit Suvadiva atoll for the time being. It is being added for deletion in accordance to wikipedia policy. Let the community decide. Thanks --Oblivious 14:30, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello Iyaaz

Hello Iyaaz,

I can see that you have created {{Islands of the Suvadives}}, which I believe was created in good faith. This template is however mislead since the island belongs to contemporary Maldives. Your contributions about Suvadives are invaluable to wikipedia. However you should also maintain a Neutral point of view in writing articles and creating templates. If you havent come across the Policies, please read and be familiar with them. Wikipedia:Five pillars and Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Thank you and keep contributing. --Oblivious 12:10, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No-content articles

Please don't create a string of articles whose only content is a template list. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Why don't you just create an article called List of Chief Justices of Maldives? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:15, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
OK, I've created List of Qazis of the Maldives from your template; why not add any information to that, creating separate articles only when there's something more significant to be said? Please don't continue to ignore me, or to create contentless articles; I'm trying very hard to avoid having to block you from editing for disruption. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:33, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Maleenglish.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Maleenglish.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 14:46, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] More image problems

Image:Suvadives flag large.png doesn't have a copyright tag and will probably get deleted if it isn't tagged. Since you uploaded it, can you tag it appropraitely? Thanx 68.39.174.238 00:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

PS. You might also want to check out the flag on Flags of formerly independent states, which is inverse from that one. 68.39.174.238 00:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Deedat.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Deedat.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. feydey 17:20, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleting your user page

Two comments on deleting your user page: A) you can request this by adding {{db-owner}} to the page (as I have done), and B) user pages (anything that starts with "User:") are dealt with at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion, not WP:AFD. [edit] Image Tagging for Image:Suvadive_president_afeef.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Suvadive_president_afeef.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:19, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Deedat.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Deedat.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 10:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Jamia Salfia (Pakistan)

A tag has been placed on Jamia Salfia (Pakistan) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 18:16, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
