ixso® natural energy (usually known as ixso®) is a carbonated energy drink manufactured and sold in Europe. ixso is made by intelligentfood AG ran by Roland G. von Moos (a former high ranked executive in FMCG-companies such as Mars, J&J, Red Bull) and owned by a group of Swiss food specialists.

Introduced in 2008 ixso is one of the first fully-natural energy drinks that is specifically designed to meet the functionality of traditional energy drinks in addition to being healthy. It contains 49kcal per 100mL and is packed in a 250mL (8.3 US fl. Oz.) can that was designed by headbanger multimedia to communicate the product's concept.

In ixso the energy comes, among others, from a particular source: fermented barley extract ixgB® [1]. The potent grain power is claimed to be easy digested and absorbed by the human body and serves as the main energy source in ixso[citation needed]. Furthermore, ixso contains natural caffeine (32mg/100ml), vitamins and natural sugar (8.3g/100ml). The overall composition is: barley extract 60%, fruit juices 27% (Quince, Apple, Raspberry, Grapes), water and natural aromas.

Carbohydrates: 12.0g, of which 8.3g sugar (20-30% less than conventional energy drinks), (maltose, fructose and dextrose).

ixso is available at the moment only in Switzerland, but soon to be in other European countries. It is retailed at the price of around: CHF 2.0, and available in Gastronomy, Gas Stations, Convenient and Retail trade. Furthermore the manufacturer claims that it will deposit 1% of its income to the intelligentpower foundation [2].
