Ivan Romanov
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ivan Nikitich Romanov, Russian Иван Никитич Романов (156?-July 16, 1640) was a son of Nikita Romanovich Zakharyin from his second wife, a junior half-brother of Feodor Nikitich Romanov (Patriarch Filaret) and an uncle of the first Tsar from the Romanov dynasty, Mikhail Fedorovich.
[edit] Life
In the election campaign of 1613 he was named one of candidates to the throne. When Cossacks gave their support to his nephew Michael, Ivan Nikitich purportedly said to them: «This prince Mikhail Fedorovich is too young and not yet in his full reason». As a result, he never held any governmental posts since then.
