Ivan Garvanov

Ivan Garvanov (December 23, 1869, Stara Zagora, today Bulgaria - November 23, 1907, Sofia) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and leader of the revolutionary movement in Macedonia and Eastern Thrace. He was among the leaders of the Bulgarian Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Committees, (the organization was renamed later to IMARO in 1906). He is considered ethnic Macedonian in the Republic of Macedonia.

He learned mathematics in Sofia, and Vienna. After that Garvanov worked as Bulgarian teacher in Thessaloniki. In 1896 he entered the BMARC and in 1901 he was elected as a member of Central Committee. In 1903 Garvanov became a leader of BMARC and led the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising. Garvanov was killed from the SMARO's left wing activist Todor Panitsa in 1907.
