[edit] Summary

IUP Portfolio is an education platform for Swedish schools, focused around the students individual development plan ("Individuell utvecklingsplan", IUP) and learning portfolio.

[edit] History

In 2006 Swedish government created a new law.
It said that every pupil in K-12 schools, has to have an Individual Development
Plan called "IUP" (Individuell Utveckling Plan).

This plan will contain the goals that will be created in connection with parent/teacher/pupil talks that are held two times a year.

The purpose of having an online IUP is that all parties should be able to access the document
at any time and be able to follow up on the goals that were created.

[edit] Goals for the IUP Portfolio project

Rolled based System 2 basic views

  1. Teacher
  2. Pupil/parents(separate login above grade 6)

[edit] Teachers view

The first thing that a teacher sees is a matrix
with students name in the rows and semester in the columns.

In each cell there will be of a Web form ready to be filled in by a teacher
who will write down what was agreed upon during the talks.

[edit] This form will be separated in to this basic formula

  • Where do we stand now?
  • Where are we going?
  • How will the home help the student?
  • How shall the school help the student?
  • What will the student do him or herself?

The result of this form will be saved in the pupil cell in his/her matrix.

So there are two basic matrices we want to build,
one for the teacher to get an overview of all his/her pupils
and one for the pupil to have a matrix for his IUP and portfolio work.

[edit] Pupil/Parent view

Matrix with the rows

- Development plan "IUP" - Documents - Pictures - Media

Columns again stand for time.

The IUP or development plan should appear the same way it does for the teacher.

The pupil and parent will be able to verify and comment the IUP from this view.

[edit] Portfolio

The rows for documents, pictures, media allow for uploading, viewing, and sharing, of
the digital resources the pupil has gathered during the school year.

[edit] Other tools (In development)

[edit] Calendar

  • The teacher will administer the calendar.

The pupil and the parent should see their own activities
and those in common for the pupils class.

[edit] Chat box

This is where the teacher will have the ongoing communication with the home.
There should be a message for the teacher when there is an unanswered message.
Maybe notification by e-mail. The parent teacher will only use to communicate with the teacher.
