Ithuriel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ithuriel is an angel in John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost.

Milton represents Ithuriel as a character sent by Gabriel to search for Satan in Paradise. Armed with a spear, the touch of which could unmask any disguise, he discovered Satan lurking in the garden in the form of a toad.

Ithuriel is also mentioned in the poem "The Hour of the Angel" by Rudyard Kipling about final judgement. The poem refers to the hour of judgement, the 'final hour', as "Ithuriel's Hour".

Ithuriel is also one of the seven Arc Angels sent to reclaim and return the light to purgatory from the Fallen angels in the 2007 Australian movie Gabriel (film).
